Been looking for the right truck for a fair bit of time. Decided on a mega cab Ram Limited. There was one local in Phoenix that was set up like I wanted, but the dealer didn't really want to sell me the truck. I found another unit at Carl Berger Ram in San Diego. My son and I flew in to SD to drive the truck home.

This is my first run at a Ram/ Cummins. My last two trucks were Duramax/Allison trucks, and that set the bar pretty high in terms of my expectation of a truck. My first impressions have been overall very good with the Ram, although there are a few things I could not stand.

The first item that needed to be changed was the god-awful logo on the tail gate. I am not sure who approved the tailgate logo at Fiat-Chrysler, but they should lose their job. Pretty sure you can see these letters from space.

That could not stand, so we went straight from the dealership over to Two Frogs Racing to begin the modifications on this truck. BTW- we are doing a full tilt " SEMA level" build with this one... stay tuned.

Can't wait to see this build...I think Rams are the best looking trucks from the big three.

Wes was gracious and took time out of his very busy schedule to help us remove the badges from the truck. We learned that the tailgate logos are so large and gaudy that Ram had to drill holes in the tail gate to properly place them. Nice surprise.

IMG_0478.jpg IMG_0476.jpg IMG_0477.jpg IMG_0481.jpg IMG_0479.jpg After we finished the work, it was time for the drive back to Phoenix. Once we got home, I took the tailgate into a friends shop to finish the job.

Kelderman Lift, Fusion Bumpers, American Force Wheels, Pretty much everything you could throw at a truck.

Cool. Johnny from Fusion is a buddy. You going to do engine work? Seems like a lot of guys are going with Specialty Forged over American Force lately.

That is pretty ridiculous about the holes in the tailgate for alignment of the logos. I imagine 90% of the people with the truck hate the logo and would love to remove it.

Cool truck. Exactly what I would like to buy.

We started with transmission upgrades for the 68RFE. I called RevMax transmissions. We planned to tune with EFI live leaving the emissions equipment in tact. The tune is + 100 hp and 200 tq. RevMax recommended their stage 5 billet torque converter, and their upgraded valve body.

I am not familiar with Specalty Forged wheels. I'll have to check them out.

RAM employed the same designer who created the DEF tank location and fill on the Duramax, so he could try his luck at brand labeling a truck.

See you know. :) My buddy bought a 2015 Dually fully loaded, just a beautiful truck. Lifts the hood....spilled DEF everywhere. I tease him, wait till you puncture that tank and spray urine all over the truck. :D

Nice truck. Own an 04, I am a fan.

Watching the build. I am waiting to hear how you like the revmax stuff.

Has Mag Hytec made a front pumpkin cover for these trucks?
On the 3rd Gens, the trackbar would hit it, so I had to run a PML front cover.

My last truck was a 2011 Denali dually. Spilled the DEF more than once. The only redeeming quality of GM's placement of the DEF tank is that it allows for a larger fuel tank.

MAG Hytec told me the diff covers for the '16 hadn't been released yet. We are going to re-gear once the lift is installed, so they are on the parts list.

I just did a ton of work on my 07.5 Ram, love the Cummins now that it's smog free...

Kelderman 4 link would just be awesome! But to throw 10g's at it is a hard one for m..

Awesome truck. I agree the logo on the tailgate is serious overkill. I've always been a Chevy guy but am looking to buy a new truck after the first of the year. Been looking hard at the Rams but I'll probably buy a 3500 because we're in the market for a big 5th wheel.

My last two trucks were Duramax's. I made the switch, and am happy so far. With the 3500 you get the Aisian transmission which is competes with the Allison in the GM and the Torqshift in the Ford. RAM puts a different transmission in the 2500. A RAM 3500 also has higher hp and tq rating than the 2500.

Just a heads up... The aisin transmission is a ~$2500 upgrade on the 3500 and includes the 900ft-lb CTD and a slightly bigger 11.8" ring gear rear axle. The standard auto trans is still the 68RFE. How is the A/C on your Ram? Mine has trouble keeping the cab cool above 105 or so, the service advisor chuckled when I mentioned it, as if it's a common issue. My extra cab rental I'm driving while my 4000 mile 2016 is in the shop is not any better...

Just saw your response. I've heard about the A/C in the Dodges. Not sure if they fixed it for '16, but mine has been flawless. I live in Phoenix and its hot as hell here. Maybe I got a Wednesday truck, dunno.

Do you know with the bullydog programmer if it'll use the DEF faster so you have to fill it up more often?

Where da pics at?

Here's the lift, bumpers, and Rigid lights sitting in my shop. The shop that I was going to have install it, told me this build was out of their comfort zone.
