Last weekend I stopped at a GMC dealer and perused at a 2016 GMC Denail 2500 4x4 - $71,000! It's a fricken pickup.

No thanks. I'll just hold on to my 2011 Silverado with 160,000 miles.

Honestly I thought they'd be more expensive than that. Sticker on my 2015 was 70k. Obviously I didn't pay that.

Just an FYI if you or your spouse work for a major company a lot of companies offer a thing called the "X-plan". It's basically a no haggle price that auto makers offer to large companies and their employees. You walk in the dealership pick a vehicle and the price is already set. That's how I bought mine. Sticker was 70k and I walked out paying just a hair under 53K. Might be worth checking into.

I just looked up the X-plan price on a fully loaded diesel 4x4 Lariat F-350.....No haggle price.

That's good advice, Grads.

To maximize the most out of X-Plan it's best to combine it when Ford has significant discounts and pricing. Any special discounts are included on top of the already discounted X-Plan rates.

X-Plan also applies to the other brands under the Ford umbrella.

Yep that's exactly what I did.

My 2016 was 70K window sticker with the ultimate package and I paid 57K with rebate about 1 year ago.

And I will add having owned about 8 trucks this F 250 is about a perfect truck that is have ever owned. Tows my 26' car hauler enclosed effortless up Cajon summit holds teenagers in rear seat with all plug ins and rear cold AC.

Yeah, but holly shit!!! You're still forkin over 54k! And it's well known the trucks and SUV's have the largest profit margins by FAR! Just a very hard pill to swallow.

I can pay a professional transporter twice a year to haul my 12k lbs boat 290 miles to lake Powell for less than the registration alone on a 2016-2017 f350.... No 150 dollar oil changes or 175 dollar transmission service that way either!

Tax on 57k is $4702.50... Once again, that's a lot of pro-transport... We need an uber towing service.

99.9% of people are not transporting a boat twice a year. Most use it daily and for vacationing with their toys, whatever they are.

I guess but these things are loaded compared to what they used to have in them. Plus I owned my other two vehicles and sold them and was able to put over $20k down on both. I had my 06 for 11 years and my wife had her other Tahoe for 9 years.

Another perspective is that these MSRPs include AC in your seats etc all the amenities.

If you wanted to build one to say 00-05 standards you can have it for 50k MSRP. I would bet you could get the truck for 50 OTD which means the truck cost you 44ish.

It sounds like RV Dealers. MSRP means nothing.

Is this true because I have looked at buying one but never bought one before?

I bought my 04 Cobra on X Plan. Sticker was $37K I got it for $29 with other rebates.

Find a Ford Employee and get A plan pricing for a better deal :)

I don't know why everyone is whining about the prices. If you don't need to tow 20K lbs, buy a half ton. A 2017 half ton can basically tow what the 10+ year old 3/4 ton diesels you all are driving around can tow.

To get the tow rating of the modern 3/4 and 1 ton trucks 10 years ago you had to get an F450/550, and they were like $60-$70K... Shocker.

They won't let you pass D or A plan to another person unless they are related.

When I worked at Ford I passed my D plan to all of my friends.

I knew an employee that was able to "get around that" awhile ago. I don't know if that loophole closed or what, but D plan is good too :thumbsup

I hear ya... I am just putting some of the ugly math that goes along with the new truck purchases. I actually have a truck to tow my boat, but for the longer trips I still use transport. I let them pack the wear and tear on their truck and I fly up in the wife's bmw. Less stress for me that way and the math works out for me.

Over 100000k in cars ? Good for you. But no thanks.
I'll stick with my old junk.

I was really thinking of buying a new truck$$$$$. Then I thought about a new used truck$$$. Then I looked what a new and what used prices were. And it's not that far off of each other.
All I see is a bunch over priced bulshit cars and trucks. Fuck that the shit.
Then I thought how nice it is not having a truck payment, wirh my old 97' dually and old 92 bronco.

It seems like a lot of money because it is. That is a "real" truck and a person must have a real need to spend that kind of coin on a purpose-built vehicle. I'm more shocked that mid-sized SUV's that don't do much cost upwards of $50k. If I needed a truck like that, I'd pay for it but you can bet your ass that I would keep it for a very long time.

Both of us are self employed so either I give that money to the government or I enjoy my hard work and get something for it. Like I stated I have not had a new truck for 11 years and the wife for 9 years. It's also nice to know we have full warranty a for 7 years and 100,000 miles plus all oil changes covered! So put gas/diesel in and drive them. As well large down payments from selling both our old vehicles for top dollar help.

I do I paid around $41k. And they are not even close to the same truck. So 11 years later with all the options and what these trucks have on them another $17k(OTD) 11 years later for me is not bad especially when I sold my 06 with 184k miles on it for $24k CASH!

I agree on not giving more money to the government. buying trucks or cars, so you don't have to. Is the right thing .

I just think it's all overpriced , and why shouldn't it be? if people are willing to buy them.
Cheap gas also helps that equation, on the big SUVs and trucks.

I remeber, not to many years back when gas and diesel shot up and in some places, over $5 a gal.
You couldn't give big trucks and SUVs away.

Always wanted a fully optioned vehicle and bought a 2500HD in '09 with every option. It took nearly 2 months to find it and of all places Bradley Chevrolet in Parker got one. There was a Texas dealer pushing them hard for a dealer trade so I didn't get much wiggle. Sticker was around $65k. If I had to do it over I'd buy 1-2 years old with less than 20,000 miles, that way I'd have some warranty in case something broke. Mine is pretty much a garage queen, 7 years old and 40k miles.
We have the X-plan available at work and many have used it to buy Ford.

Isn' t that when you lost your ass? And became a trophy husband? :rolleyes:P

To each is own on how they want to live and spend their money. GRADS can be an ass and those that have been around know he and I have had our issues, but no offense your remarks to him make you come across like a prick!!! Good for you on keeping your old truck/cars etc.
