Going to surprise the wife with a quick trip to Laughlin. I haven't been in years.

What's the best place to stay? Nice Mexican restaurant?

The River Lodge has been upgrading for awhile now. I am not sure about the rooms but the casino is the nicest in Laughlin IMHO. They just opened a whole new section called Bourbon Street with all kinds of new games, TV's, pool tables. Dotty's has free snacks and even starbucks canned drinks, no charge. The seats are all nice office chairs with tables next to them. It is a welcome change considering the way the rest of Laughlin is heading.

Nicest rooms are at the nugget, best places to eat depends on budget, Pints at the bell for beer pizzas and sports, Harrahs steakhouse for little upscale. Race weekend for the off roaders so it will be busier than usual, will be there as well for the races.

for food we absolutely love Bumbleberry Flats in the Pioneer. about as good as it gets. Laughlin actually has decent steak houses in a few different casinos. I like the one in the Tropicana but salt grass on the boardwalk is good as well.

If you had to pick between Aquarius or The Nugget?

The wife likes to gamble, I don't so one with the best sports bar for me would be cool.

Aquarius is more open in the casino areas while The Nugget is a little more old school (lower ceilings) but does host the Saltgrass steak house. Not as good as it was several years ago but still not bad.
Harrah's has a decent steakhouse as well.

The nugget has better places to eat and a Starbucks. Aquarius is nice too though. Best Mexican is el charro on 95. As far as gambling I've always done well at pioneer but it's cheaper to buy in for most games w smaller payouts

If it's special, I would spend a little extra time and go to Vegas.

We actually like Guy Fieri's mexican restaurant in Harrah's. The margaritas were good and the chips were like puffed flour tortilla chips with a seasoning salt or something on them. Would go back. We hadn't been to Laughlin in a long time, but wanted to take my father in law to Vegas...he said he'd rather go to Laughlin, so...

YES...this. For us, Vegas actually costs less and has ten times more to offer. The wife's dad just moved back here from Fort Mohave, so he had his heart set on Laughlin. We're going back in April I think...probably try Tropicana? I think that's what he said. He calls the shots when we take him with.

We always loved the gourmet room in Laughlin for a quiet dinner and a great view but to be honest, their service has been horrible the last two trips.
So, at the Aquarius you'll find a great Italian Restaraunt called the vineyard. Cannot go wrong there. For something more casual, do what Dave said, Bumbleberry.[emoji106]

Other than Fremont st.. I actually like Laughlin better than Vegas.

I agree,Lived in Las Vegas for ten years and only went to the strip when people came from out of town or going to a concert.Overpriced and to many want to be hip hop knuckle heads.Fremont is old school cool and Laughlin is across the river from my home and it's perfectly O.K. in my opinion.

Casa Seranos is in the Riverside now. As for where to stay my wife really digs the Colorado Bell. As far as is the Colorado Bell nice? That would all depend on your definition. The wife and I are easily satisfied.

I haven't had Casa in a few years now.... Gonna have to make run to Laughlin for some fun and some Casa

I forgot how smokey these casinos get... Holy crap it sucks. The Nugget is a nice hotel. Clean rooms etc. Lots of racers rolling into town for the SNORE race. Fun groups of folks and I can see how it really is a family sport. I was joking with a guy about selling my boat and buying a off-road car... he said don't do it... it's a young mans sport as his back is shot after years of racing. I'm nursing a four star hangover so I think I'll hunt out a greasy breakfast... Maybe something in Bullhead.

Ummm bean dip and salsa with chips I can mow that right there with some beer I'm in heaven.

Funny story we went in there once and the wait was long so we were BS'ing with other peeps waiting and then they threw a bunch of tables together for us all to sit together. Well needless to say many beers and pregame we were somewhat loud and obnoxious started the wave throughout the whole restaurant. We almost got tossed out the manager threatened us several times if we wouldn't pipe down but there was so much interaction and laughing between our tables and other tables it was a great time. I think it was a tube float weekend followed up with Losers Lounge late night dance off.

Good Times

This was our consensus as well, we used to love it. Last weekend when I was there working on the boat though it was horrible (waited for an hour, brisket wasn't actually smoked like it used to be, fillet didn't taste right, baked potato looked a week old).

Hopefully by summer time they'll sort everything out and get some good people in the back.

We ended up eating at Saltgrass. Great steak and service.

I forgot that the Burro was closed Thursdays...weird. We ate at Saltgrass also. Not bad. I had those rattler jalapeno poppers. Damn, now those were goooood.
