I figured I would start a thread about my Cobra Performance Boat (model) 2006 260 Razor with a 496HO. I was looking to get a 270... however the one I lusted after was sold about 2 weeks just before I contacted Hernando (general manager) at Cobra. Once I got in contact with him... He said he had a 260 coming in that I may be interested in. I booked a ticket and found this one owner... 66hr boat in nearly brand new condition... Here's a few pics... It's being shipped from CA to Nashville, TN. Once I get it on my lake i'll be adding more to this.

Very nice sled. I like the little green added in the gel. [emoji106][emoji106]. Ur going to stick out like a sore thumb in Tennessee , I would think there are to many of these west coast boats in ur area. I know there wasn't many in Oklahoma when I took my old boat there.

I spent 1/2 my day answer all the ? From the locals. [emoji41][emoji41][emoji202][emoji481]

Thank you... That's what happened to my last one... I owned it for 6months because bringing these west coast boats to this area... you find someone likes/wants it more than me and i like to make a little bit of money here and there. I'd be a dealer If I could afford it. :):):)

The original 2006 sony head unit was ok... but not great... So here are some pic of my upgrade. When I decided to remove the unit and splash cover for a newer style integrated head unit that left us with a very unsightly factory hole to fill. My neighbor is a stainless fabricator and was able to run the laser and cut out exactly what I needed to fill the hole up properly and install the new head unit. It looks amazing in person. :)

The latest update:

It's going to be an exciting 2019 season for me. The 2006 260 Razor is at Cobra Performance Boats getting quite a makeover. We are doing a fresh 2019 interior, an engine swap from the 135hr 496HO to a 125hr 525 EFI, Upgrading the drive from a Bravo X1 to a modified MAX Machine WORX XR built drive, a major stereo upgrade and several miscellaneous custom options.

My 135hr 496HO has been nothing but reliable but when I found a 125hr 525 EFI I figured why not. Here are the before pictures... I will update this thread as the project progresses...

In the 2 seasons (2017 & 2018) of owning this 2006 260 Razor from Cobra Performance Boats I saw the following consistent performance numbers from her...

496HO - Bravo X1 - 26p stock bravo prop
  • 70.2mph on GPS, trimmed at 7.8 up from 0 with 2 - 1/4 full fuel tanks (20 gallon total).
  • 67.4mph on GPS, trimmed at 7.8 up from 0 with 2 - 1/2 -3/4 full fuel tanks (40-60 gallon total) and 6-7 people onboard, full coolers, and all their junk.

Very nice, I am sure you will enjoy the extra power. I was at the shop looking at a 260 Venom the other day and was eyeballing a 525 they had there. Safe to assume it’s what you sent?

What lake is that? Tennessee is on our short list for retirement, but the local lake has to be performance boat friendly..

I keep my boat on J Percy Priest and boat there most of the year... Performance boat friendly but not a lot of them on there... You'll find more on other surrounding lakes like Old Hickory, Center Hill, Dale Hollow. The lakes are beautiful out here. If you ever want to make a trip into Nashville let me know, I'll take you around to check it out!

Update:

My personal opinion is that the Cobra 260 Razor had way to much of a slant on the rear swim platform. Because of this I sent it back to Cobra to level the platform out. In addition to that we also cut open the bow and added an anchor locker.

A simrad GO5 was added to the dash along with a NEMA2K network to communicate with the Smartcraft for digital engine details, connections to the stereo display, GPS speeds, depth and plenty more details. With the system in place we were able to also add digital gauges in the back of the seats.

Yes they did! They are a packed house right now doing multiple interiors at one time.

They have done the complete makeover and do some very fine work. But Note: this whole process has been slower than expected with some wasted time in my viewings. I was verbally quoted "we can get this easily done in 5 months for the whole project" and we are at 6 months. I should of got it in writing.

The biggest delay was the fiberglass work taking 2 months of the project.

My build thread is in the from the mold section. In the thread it went over the time and I missed a trip. Was a little frustrating but in the end well worth the wait. I want to go by and talk about building a 270 python I’ve just been so busy

OUT FKING STANDING!

Very nice upgrades!

The 525 is going to a great setup, I wish I had done that from the start when I had mine built, however I cant think of a single day that I didn't enjoy the boat with a 496ho so in the end after selling it, the next guy can do it :)

The angle on the swimstep was the one and only mold modification that I felt needed to be done. When beached, the bow would be up and the swimstep leans back too much to sit comfortably on, it was hard to set anything on it without sliding off. The outcome of that looks great!

The front storage compartment is a nice touch for sure as well! I really like it. I am torn at how I would use it tho. hopefully hinged on a side so you can have access from in or out of the boat. I am not sure I would put an anchor it as it could get bounced around a bit and I don't like the extra weight in bow. But what a great place for a small cooler to be dropped into, or some cleaning spray and a few towels so you don't have to get in and out of the boat over the bow rail every time to grab things.

Very well thought out, very functional and very well done!!!

:)

I had to come back and look at this again... the stitching has always been something that I like from Cobra Performance Boats, even and straight! Again, on point, you just extended the life of this boat another 15 years.

Being in Tennessee we boat a little different with no sand bars... just mud bottoms and rocky shores so i never put the bow on land ever. Were more anchor down... raft up in a line together... and floating in the water off the back so i'm really excited to try the back out. I also had cup holders installed in the corners plus some seadeck too.

I had some gelcoat spider's in the front near the bow eyes that they repaired so they beefed it up extra heavy to handle the potential anchor weight. The main purpose is hopefully to keep any mud from going across the interior... It'll be an interesting test for sure.

There are quite a few more surprises that I havent posted just yet. When she arrives back in TN this week I'll be taking all kinds of final pics. You may just want to put yourself back in a V-bottom after all... that is if I can get ya jealous enough. :)

Taking the angle out the step was a great idea. I added a swim platform to mine. Made the back of the boat 100% more user friendly. Still looking for a 525 to swap in. Nice upgrades!

The trash can tho  i dig that! This boat was sexy from the start but you’ve turned it into a runway model now.

Congratulations she’s beyond gorgeous

You have probably seen it on just about every new pontoon, some wakeboard boats and most newer cabin cruisers and houseboats. Cobra was very hesitant to do it... I had to demand it multiple times! I was told it's just not a powerboat thing... In the end it's slip resistant, very easily cleanable, resists that mold and mildew smell after the cover is put on right away and so far it didn't show a stain when that large jack & coke got knocked over last week. Water beads up and dries up right away. If you ask me... The powerboats should get completely away from carpet if they are not doing a liner and seadeck.

Carbonite was the style chose.

Boat looks great! Buying used and updating is the way to go, saves tens of thousands off of a new one.
Your 100% right... It's so much cheaper. I would love to find a 28' DCB like your profile pic and update it.
