What is the best way to remove the rub rail rivets. I already got the rail of. Do I just punch them through?

Drill the heads off and punch the bodies through

Ok. I already drilled them. I tried punching them through and they just didn't seem like they wanted to go through. I guess I just have to push harder😆

You could drill the heads off to remove old rub rail and then just go back and re drill holes the proper diameter to accept new rivets or screws if you're thru bolting.

What's holding them in? Carpet? Upholstery? Fiberglass? Need to figure that out. Don't want a bunch of rivet bodies caught behind carpet or interior causing little lumps everywhere.

There's nothing inside holding them in. I think the problem is when I drilled the heads off it flared the end slightly so they are tight to push through. And the boat is gonna get capped. That's the reason for removal. I'm gonna try again later today when I get home.
