River Rags Parker

They are closing there doors on May 1 everything in the store is 50% off

I haven't been in that place since the casino was up there.

I went in there once about 6 years ago for a pair of sunglasses when the wife lost mine...prices were higher than a hermosa beach surf shop. I'm amazed they lasted as long as they did.

I liked the store . Shame parker lost a quality store

Bummer, they always had cool stuff, and great sales. Remember taking my kids there when they were kids, 20 years ago.

A few years ago I went in there looking for a thong bikini for a girlfriend at the time. You know, something kind of trashy. I was pretty disappointed. Selections and prices were pretty sub-par. But they had a nice shop and the staff was really helpful.

I always loved River Rags.. Granted I didn't go in there much, but it was a Parker Icon!

Wife went in there last summer for flip flops. Nothing worth buying and the place was slim pickings for everything else. Spanky's had a nice selection of flip flops though. Too bad. River Rags was cool at one time. Especially to replace sunglasses the river stole :cool

Just bought a pair of sunglasses there a few weeks ago. I was talking to the owner for a bit about how long they have been there. Didn't say a word about closing. What a bummer

Whitey's taking them to Marina Manor and using them as siding for his trailer. :rolleyes

BeachCombers is opening next door to Spankys. They would have crushed them anyhow.

If I recall correctly it was started by the wife of Bill Verkamp, Fire Chief of Buckskin Fire department, back in the 70's. Verkamp was a firefighter in SoCal then moved on to bigger and better things in Parker.

Didnt they use To be over by the keys? I remember back in the day the girls jumpin in a boat and tying up at a dock in the keys and going shopping . To bad that was a cool place in the day.

Construction stopped months ago on Beachcombers

The sale is pretty legitimate. I stocked up on shorts and board shorts.

Ditto, saw this thread this morning and made the mistake of taking the wife in this afternoon. Stocked up for the summer though. Everything in the store is 50% off and they are still pretty well stocked.

Always had good boardies here, what a bummer. I will be in town this weekend, will have to stop by and stock up for summer.

Good stuff but brutally high prices.
A discount shop is what's needed.

They'd drop $350 in there and walk out with a small bag.

My wife loved shopping there also.
I believe they moved a couple times.
