Looking to upgrade the bow nav light my Carrera 205 elite. I see accon makes 2 different styles. What is everyone going with and what's the difference in the 2 other that shape.

These are the 2 I'm looking at, thinking of the longer narrow one. If I had a schiada or a spectra with a round bow I'd go with the smaller one I think.

I hate the thought of cutting a hole that big (for either version) in the deck.

It's too bad somebody hasn't figured out how to get a compliant super bright set of LED's that could be fitted into the rub rail channel.

Lacking that, I agree the second model better fits the profile of your deck.

They do make this. But I think you have to drill a 1/2 hole in the rub rail

Well there you have it, I guess I should have looked before I posted.

I still hate the idea of cutting a 2.5 x 3 inch hole in the deck...

Although either alternative is better than the light you had.

Yeah I hear you there on cutting the big ass hole. I'm kind of having second thoughts on it. I don't know how I feel about the rub rail lights either. I can see bashing the dock and there goes the light. I just ordered a small low profile led light on eBay and see how it looks. it was only $25.

I have the one on the right. Works great.

Here's the light I ended up going with. It's actually not bad for $25. Bright and small.

Fired it up at night. I'm really impressed for how small and low profile it is.

How big of a hole did you have to cut for that? Do you have the link to the actual one you purchased?

The rub rail thing is easy. The LEDs are on ebay, cheap and wire up to 12 volts, built in diode. Bore out a stainless screw and clear silicone it in the hole. Works great.

That came out very nice and super clean.

Well done sir!

If you dont want to put any holes in you boat you can just buy some of the nav lights that run on batteries and attach with suction cups when you need them
