Big Sur landslide.....

Just read through the report. Sounds like there's a lot of fill dirt available to haul away.:yikes

Is there a short away around the slide or is a big stretch of highway just shutdown for a long time?

They were talking about it on the local news last night the slide was so huge it literally changed the California coastline. HWY 1 was already closed at Ragged point due to a bridge failure just north of the slide and the slide is in that closure area. I haven't heard yet if the slide will increase the closure period or not.

The entire coastline is pretty fucked. Huge closure

Was just up there. Road closed sign right at Ragged Point.

There is trouble every year along the Big Sur coast but not like that one. that's pretty massive

Nothing like a good old California disaster to stir up construction business.:eek
And Business is GOOD in California right now!

I wonder who owns that new piece of California coast line?

that will make for nice point surf. a right on a north west swell & a left on a south. :thumbup:

the locals if they are determined can still get home, there are dirt fire roads that snake all the way down the coast

Article I read said it's the largest landslide in Ca history. 1 million tons of rock and dirt!

i see an old landslide right next to it thats three times bigger lol

I can only imagine the noise that much dirt made when it slid down the hill

Hopefully nobody was in the way of that landslide.

Doubtful. The highway has been closed down since the big January storms because they took out a bridge just north of that slide.

Great another reason for California to raise taxes.

I would love to see an audit showing what our taxes are for and where it actually went. I know it will never happen, but still would love to see it

Hey Tank, the good thing is you weren't near this one at the time it happened...

That is pretty crazy. There is a massive development at the south end of the Salt Lake valley with thousands of homes sitting on the old shore of lake Bonneville. You can still see it clear as day and it is all sand. When we have the quake I am afraid they might all slide.
