So I got to thinking. It's always cool when you see a pegged speedo like in the other thread.
If your boat went 100mph, would you want a 100mph speedo to say you can peg it, or 120 mph so you have room. Just curious what everyone thought.

Mine goes to 80. It's about 4mph faster than GPS and I still don't have any hope of pegging it.

Most gauges (speedo) are not accurate on the bottom or top of the scale.

Never mind. After thinking about it they do if it's gps.

my new engine upgrade put me over my 90 mph reading. I have an order in for a 120 gauge (even though il never reach it). i just like to have the option if i get a tail wind :rolleyes

Pegging always looks better to the passengers. Especially when using Auto Meter [emoji106][emoji6]

I have a pair of 120 mph speedos that will match exactly what you need. They say 28SS on the inside. You can have them I upgraded to 140s. To me a peg speedometer is pretty much useless no more information to be given. I think when I build again there will be no analog GPS speedometer in the boat.

Gracias Amigo. I was just thinking out loud. Don't think I'm doing speedos on the new boat either.

My boat is so slow I just watch the Tachometer....Lol! im lucky if she gets over 50....but as long as it gets me there.[emoji106]thumbsup
If they make a speedo that tops out at 20, I miiiiiiiiight be able to get to the top.... downhill, with the wind, and spraying nitrous directly into the carb.😂

I look at it this way. I reached 120 in my 21' Daytona and then sold it.

Now in my 25' Daytona I have something to work towards

A little off topic but, Back in my early 20s I had a 90 5.0 Mustang on nitrous. One night coming home from San Diego I decided to see if I could top out the 140 mph speedo. Well, I was successful, and it was then I learned that that the speedo will keep going. I learned real quick about the importance of aerodynamics and suspension at that speed and shut it down.:eek Later on I was telling the story and was asked how fast it went and I was able to honestly answer "M". :cool

If I could Peg the speedo in my boat, I would leave it in. I might use that as an excuse to add a digital GPS speedo as well though...

Here is the one I was looking for. I had two speedos. The 120MPH was in front of me and the 100MPH was in the center of the dash for the passengers.

That's awesome! "Past Pegged" seems to be the consensus!

Thanks Dave, I thought that was hauling ass too until I drove my buddies M31 with 1350s to 170mph and I swear it pulled harder than that all the way. That was my new style 22 Daytona! Had to sell it for a late life divorce. Both the video and recall where the same day. The engine was a 955hp 540 that Dustin Whipple built with a 4.0 Whipple on it. It was early in the year with good cool air and no hood on the back. Once I closed it up, I could never get enough air to the engine compartment to get it to run that hard. It would do the top speed but not quiet as quick. That was also with zero trim, just enough to get the boat to take a set. I never had the balls to air it out!

I'm sure someone has an old pic on their computer of me attempting to peg my red white and blue speedo. :eek
