Removing Paint

How do you guys remove layers of paint from Gelcoat? After trying sanding and paint remover, I used a 1500 Watt heat gun and the old paint peeled off like butter, down to the primer. Didn't seem like gel or glass softened at all. I know epoxy is affected by heat. Any issues with this method?

lol hes removing a whole boat worth of paint not just registration numbers. you'd need like 300 cans.
