This one is going to be fun and we hop to give it some extra coverage.

Customer out of Louisville KY is building a 25' Standard Deck Mercury 565, and going with Old Skool Flames on Electric Blue base.

Open Bow / Walk Thru

The molds are in excellent condition and prep has begun.

Larry started Monday laying out the design from the rendering and other info / talking with the customer / etc

He lays down the basic pin lines, consults with the customer again, the starts the full taping process.

Amazing how he creates the curves with tape ... each gel color/spray has to be coordinated in his masking job.

Coming together ... the black area is the mold and that will be the Electric Blue, which will be painted last (eh, right Gelcoater?)
_20170606_111012.jpg

Finished mash ... might be hard to see, but there's little "pull tabs" where he will pull then spray the various colors.

Likely he will spray tonight or early tomorrow, depending on his schedule. It goes straight to lamination the next day.

I loved my 25 single step. Probably the most popular tunnel of all time??? I think 樂樂
When was the last time a 25 standard deck was built?

Close enough, Gary. ;)

Blue was back ordered, so last night the making on the deck was mostly completed.

Can you post a pic of a standard deck vs a non standard deck looks like? I would like to know what the difference is.

Nice numbers.
Yes, this one will be beautiful. I see quite a few 25's at Havasu. Still a fantastic looking boat.

Thanks. I would prefer the standard deck myself. Looking forward seeing the build progress.

I would too.
This deck has a bit more under deck area head room wise.

Not that there's much but more than the canopy deck.

This is one of my favorite models, to me a timeless model.

It's good to see one getting built and maybe it will spark a fire in someone else?

Is there a difference between flo coating and sanding the bildge smooth? If it's just a coating what is the up charge?

What does "speedcoat" the bottom mean?

Yes probably a dumb noobie question.

It's a coating that when applied has a texture to it that disturbs the water enough that it aerates it. The belief is that it makes the boat faster.

I couldn't tell much of a difference on mine.

There is a difference but sanding is definitely involved, like hours and hours of it. Itchy damn mess.

Thanks, not what I expected. I thought it was some slick new surface coating, similar to the lubricant used on the sled in Christmas Vacation.

Boat looks great. I might have left the stainless part of the rub rail off. You could always put it on later if the paint on the rub rail got chipped.

Whats the speed with a 600

I believe Grads 25 closed bow with canopies ran +/- 93mph. I'm not exactly sure because he would never run against my naturally aspirated 25' Daytona. I even gave him full disclosure that I would be wearing my safety lanyard, lifeline, and a helmet but still couldn't get him to line them up.
This new 25 looks fantastic. I would guess it runs mid or maybe upper 80's with the open bow.
