Is this the owner of CBM'S boat? Only ask because you don't see many CBM motors in boats.

Yea you don't see a lot of CBM boat motors. But the sand car guys dig them. So I'm sure they are capable.

I know one of the CBM guys owns a ocean style cruiser.

Chris and Bruce are sand car guys and very well known GM world class engine tech- I read an article about Chris and he is only one of a few to accomplish this. I have talked to him several times with buggy motor questions and has always been very helpful.

Having a CBM Motor in a boat shouldn't scare anyone away from buying.

Yes, they built my 509 form my
Daytona 26 that went 117. Sand car market locally and in the Far East are there primary markets, they are also big in king of the hammers and now drifting as well.

Yes I am the owner of CBM, just so that you guys all know I installed this Procharger P1sc in 2002 or 3 on the stock bottom end with heads, cam Gil exhaust, injectors and it was flawless for almost 400 hours( Had 300 when I installed it). I don't beat my stuff but like to cruise at 50 mph up and down the river so it has a 28 pitch prop and at 3800rpm's that what it does. The rebuild got some rods, forged pistons, stainless rings and everything else freshened back up. It also got a Mefi 4b installed and removed the Mefi 1 computer. It had 702 hours on the boat and now has 717 hours when built.

This must be one of the first few straight bottom 27's with a delta pad?

Great looking boat! I really like the closed bow. 85mph is impressive too for a straight bottom. Is that GPS and what rpm are you seeing at 85mph? I imagine the drive is 1.50?

When did Hallett start the delta pad? How much of an improvement was the pad over the full vee?

I think there was only a handful of them built in the mid to late 90's. I think the slight speed gain was not worth losing the handling it created. Up to 70 it was all good, but then really becomes a driver's boat after that. I only have ridden in one once that had a mild 509. Felt the same, but this boat only ran 65-68.

HP of said 509? 600hp in a straight bottom 270 is dead on a 75mph boat everything being pretty perfect.

700-725hp would run 80-85.

Will it run much faster than 85? What is the max for that hull?

I think Lynch on here has a 27 that runs around 100.

Skav you have a 27 don't you?

I've talked to Lynch and his is definitely sweet with the #3. I guess I'm asking more about a standard Bravo setup.

Yes I have a 97 270 MCOB too, but without the pad. That's why I've always loved how stable the hull rides. I wouldn't consider it a fast hull though. That's why I'm curious about where the limits of the straight bottom are. 600=75, 725=85. Would 850=95? What Hp and drive setup would it take to get the hull to 100 and how stable would it be?

People I've talked to before have said the the hull kinda hits a wall around 80.

Like you said at hitting the wall, it starts to take much more HP to gain the speed. I think 95-100 is as fast as I would want to go in a 27. Especially with a single.

If I was building one now it would be 570 Ilmors with XR's sportmaster lowers and ITS.

That should be a stable 95-100mph ride.

Has anybody run a legit 95-100 in a straight bottom 270? Not 2FF numbers off the pito.

That would be a nice setup. I've talk to a couple people with scorpion twins and they like that setup a lot too.

The scorpion boats run 75-80. They built one with blackhawks that ran pretty hard. Someone out there has one that has.

My 240 when it had a gentry turbo motor ran 95+, handled it well.

The 240s seem to run really well and probably better or easier to make speed with power.

The lifting strakes on the 240 continue further back than the 270. My center strakes stop about 9' from the transom.

Horrible quality but caught this 270t with Blackhawks on the freeway a few weeks ago. Thought it was a rad setup so snapped a pic, boat got off at my exit.

Where is the boat currently located?

Boat is currently located in Rancho Cucamonga and to answer the horsepower question I have never dynoed it only tuned it on the water. Based on equipment I would put it at 750ish didn't want to go crazy wanted reliability. Sorry for the late responses I don't get here to often. If anyone wants and immediate answer please just call me. Dropping the price $1000 need it gone hate for it to sit outside after being indoors for 12 years
