OMC Outdrive help!

My boss's boat isn't shifting and needs the shift cable from the outdrive to the motor replaced or adjusted. Of course being the middle of summer, all shops are booked up and he has a trip planned next weekend.
Does anyone know of a shop in socal that he can get his boat into on short notice? Expedite fee may apply?
Has anyone replaced one of these cables on their own successfully and want to make some money helping us out?

Here's the pickle, I am also planning a 9 day trip during the same time. If he can't take his trip, I fear it may jeopardize mine.

Only shop I know of that is good with OMC stuff in Havasu is Chong's marine. I know it's not in socal but finding shops that are omc guys are getting rarer.

Make sure you insist on using a oem cable part # 987661. Hopefully the recall was done on the back cut clutch dog and gears when it was still in warranty. If not you will be looking at replacing the lower gear set too.

AMS or affordable marine services out of san diego does OMC work. Ask for Dennis

try to call Matt over at M&M Marine in Huntington Beach. 714-842-7027. he has pulled me out of a jam a few times and has always been fair about it.

Tom Smith Marine in Signal Hill. They worked on my OMC stringer couple seasons ago.

Thanks for all the references everyone. I passed the info along. He had already talked to Dick Sherrer and he is going to try to get into M & M. Was willing to take it out to havasu tomorrow night but Chong is not open this weekend.

Al is an expert on OMC, so is Chong. I had a recent OMC nightmare with steering failure. Al went above and beyond to help me.
