Saw this on Facebook...

Anyone traveling down the 40W towards Cali the 40 is closed at the inspection station
and will remain close I was told for a few days 2 semi's collided and burnt to the ground
melting all the asphalt, Oatmam road is an option around or interstate 10.

Here is a link to the Caltrans Road Conditions page. I keep it as a bookmark on my phone because I travel in remote areas. Just key in the hwy number and hit search. It works great and is kept up to date.
