Brian FWIW get I'd start getting things sorted out to get it done. If it works for you I'd get it done as soon as your summer is over to allow you to recover a bit by Christmas. I had my surgery in January, it was much easier on my head to be inactive in the dead of winter than in the spring or summer when I always seem to have something going on.
Best of luck, brother...and do exactly what they tell you post op and in rehab to get the best results.
My experience is that the metal in my back aches like a mofo in the winter, I would hope they have the knee deal sorted out well enough to eliminate or minimize that.
