My boy started at five with a CRF50, he is on a Kawi 110 now and the next step will be a CRF150. He loves it and identifies with it. Watches the races with me, posters in his room. Loves anything that has todo with Windham or Pastrana. True about the safety eq. He is always geared up when riding, I never let him slip in the safety dept.![]()
Doesn't get any cooler than this thread. I loved seeing soldout training with the rope, think he got it from seeing me training my horses.![]()
Put my son on a Pw50 at age 4 on the pee wee track and he is now 14 on a CRF 250 riding the main at Milestone (and hopefully Perris next week) with me and he is hitting all the jumps. Sometimes it's hard to watch and yes he has had some broken bones that have healed just fine but most of his friends have had just as bad of an injury playing Football or Baseball and quite a few of them have had repetitive injuries. My Daughter is 17 and rides a YZ450 quad. IMO, motocross riding, riding in the desert and boating is some of the best quality time a family can spend together.
Sharp Shooter, we would like to hit the track with you sometime as it seems you ride often. We usally ride the tracks 3 to 4 times per week (fastpass).
I have ridden all my life and raced at the professional level for years. I'm on the fence about my boy. He just turned 4 and could care less about them.....which is fine with me. I don't know....... I would love him to go trail ride with me, but in no way race, and if he starts to enjoy trail riding he is going to want to race. Racing is a meat grinder...What's your thoughts?
I've spent my life on bikes, still have my first Indian that we got when I was 2 1/2. But, having had & seen so many injuries, kind of always thought I would steer my kidos away from it. Then my first little guy comes around & he's a total natural on 2 wheels. So today @ 3 1/2, I broke down:
Already have it governed way down & orderring one of those remote kill switches tonight - goes on before he rides.
First Day in the Dirt today, he's taking to it like a fish in water. Of course a couple falls, but by the end of the day he was cruising pretty good. This is maybe his 5th time on the bike, 3 yrs, 7 months.
on the 50 SX Sr. Bike is quick. A tad quick for a 6 year old.
