So, I bought this Limo cart to cruise the Islander with friends. It's a great time, the ultimate booze cuiser.

Started out as a stock 2001 6 passenger 48 Volt Club Car Villager.

I pretty much decided to tear it down to a rolling chassis.

Bring it outside to try to clean it up a bit.

Some of the plans for the cart.

New dash.
Ipod driven amp, no stereo.
New 500 Amp controller & HD Solenoid.
Make all new 2 ga cables from front to rear.
Undercarriage and interior lighting
Body wrap
Matching interior
Add 2nd. 48-12 Volt Reducer.

and much more.

Under the drivers seat, there was nothing, lift the seat, see the road.

I needed a place to mount electronics.

My first attempt.

Interior lighting, Couple of options, it can flash to the beat, or just change colors.

I just subsribed to this thread. Great project!!!

I have a 1998 48v club car that I'll be starting shortly. I really dig the "no stereo" idea since I only use pandora on my iphone.

Your cart is looking great!! Do you need a job building carts? Hope all is going well. A bunch of us have a house in the keys (Parker) March 1-3. Let me know if I can help with anything or if you want to stop by for a beer.

Yes, Bill how is coming along. Any new pictures?:)

Ya, that's not happening.:rolleyes The stereo sounds great, lights work killer, drives awesome, and came out so damned ugly I can't take it. I will start a new thread titled "Golf Cart Rebuild"... Seats are obnoxious, wrap looks like puke with a variety of colors, none of which match.

Bottom line, looks like crap. It's one of those things that just didn't work. But I don't want to be without the cart for the Summer, so I will drive it and take my beating until I redo it next Winter...

This cart is no rocket ship, but plenty of torque, probably does 18-20 mph I'd guess. 48V and I put a 500 amp controller on it with the 2ga cables. Motor is stock. Plenty fast for a limo with 6 drunk people on it.

There is some help over on http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/ Cables and controller makes a huge difference, if that's not enough, put a big motor in it.

I did cables. Next Ill do batteries as they are old. They all tested ok but one. I put a new one in but it didn't help much. Cables didn't help either really. I adjusted the throttle, it made a slight difference. I guess once I do all the batteries I'll start looking for a controller.

Batteries and cables are always a great start. Cables only help if the old ones are trash, or to deliver big amps from the new controller.

What cart do you have? Year? Volts?

I have a 36v ezgo with nothing but cables and a big controller, and it hauls ass.

36v Club Car. Cables were very corroded. It's the same one Mc RIb bought from lake Pal. Mine is really slow, like barely makes it up the bridges in the keys.

I heard the EZ GO electrics were a lot faster.

Try driving McRibs. It's faster to walk.

I would hit up Lakepal, he would know what it needs to speed it up, and could even get good prices on the parts.

Make sure it is really a 36 volt cart.... The limo I got from lake pal came with 36 V batteries, but it was a 48V cart! Those 12 extra volts make a huge difference. LOL

You can get a contoller, cables and a Plum Quick motor. You'll be speedy then!

Interesting. How would I know what voltage it's supposed to have?

Check the label on the motor.

I think he just had one of his guys stick in some decent batteries and they didnt check it . It went from about 9 miles an hour to 22 with the purple motor and new Trojan batteries. Add a controller and fat cables and you will get even more speed.

Wow, I'm very sorry that happened. I wish I would have known because I would have taken care of it. Sorry about that.

No big deal, I am sure one of your employees just didn't pay that much attention. It runs 22 mph now...I put a Plum Quick motor in it. I am happy with it.

How'd you like the lights that you ordered? I'm thinking of ordering a kit for my boat from the same place.

Asking Billy questions from 2013 is like asking Chris were he worked last week ! LOL

I've tried to buy it a few times. It's a islander icon. It's ugly, but that's why it's great. I will take a few pics tomorrow
