Man that is AWESOME!!!

Congrats!

Deb had bloodwork today, things still look good also.
She has Herceptin again Monday, and every three weeks until the end of August for the HER2 deal.

Then she gets her port out. It will have been in over a year then.

Congrats again!:thumbup::bowdown:

I've still got my port as well. Tried to talk them into taking it out but he wants to wait till after my ct scan on June 9th. I'll be glad to get rid of this thing.

So I had a check up Wednesday. Had some blood drawn too. Dr. calls me this morning and says my tumor markers are "slightly" elevated. Wonderful. Waiting to hear from the oncologist on what this fucking means.

I hope everything is good for you.... but in either event check this out.... http://www.cureyourowncancer.org/rick-simpson.html
I would totally try it if I had anything come up like this!!! I've heard nothing but good things!!

Congrats, Dave.
The news doesn't get much better than that from where you have been.
Hopefully they can get a handle on the ear deal. We will keep that one in the prayers.
As far as depression, well I gotta say you are right about on schedule, based on what I went through with my deal. I don't think many folks get a cancer diagnosis that don't, at some point in their treatment/recovery live through it. I sure as heck did, and still do.
Mine is mixed up with the "can't work" thing that really, really plays with my self worth now and then. You are wise to face it, and understand it is just something else you need to overcome. How you choose to do it is up to you. Staying involved in the stuff you care about and keep a laser focus on that beautiful wife and daughter you have is a great place to start.

Really glad to hear the good news. Hope I'm not out of line, but IMHO there's no shame in using meds for the depression to get over the hump, so don't suffer. Hope things continue positive...

Great news D..... :thumbsup We all go through some bad times and feel depressed. Even tougher when you have to battle through something so serious as you have. Stay positive man. I've always used my family to think about to help me through. You have two beautiful ladies to help put a smile on your face at home. Use that man. You're a lucky man. :thumbsup Your friends are always a call away too brutha. :) Stay strong homie. ;)

Not bad, not bad at all.

But Brown would have worked a scrotum/ port/ ball sack joke into it. :thumbsup:D

I think it safe to say that I have no desire to attempt a match of wit with Brown......

Thankfully, he remains in a class unto himself.....

So I finally got in to the ear specialist. Didn't go as well as I hoped. I've got some significant hearing loss. One of the worst things is trying to hear people talk with background noise or other people talking in the room. It's pretty bad. I'm that guy now always going "huh". I did decent at certain stuff during the test but a lot of the higher pitched sounds I can't even hear at all. Worst of it though is my ear ringing could be permanent. He says for some people in time it does get better but odds are it's here for good. It's not terrible at the normal ringing level but at times my left ear will all of a sudden scream. Only last a few seconds but it's miserable. Cisplatin is a nasty fucking chemo drug. But it's beats the alternative of dying from cancer I guess.

Anyways enough about the ears. I see my oncologist Monday for my test results. Also I've developed another fucked up problem I gotta go over with him. Last week I developed a tingling sensation in my feet. Almost like they're about to fall asleep but not quite there yet. It's not too bad but kind of annoying. Well starting yesterday it's now also in my hands. I called my physician since we talk regularly and he's almost positive it's nerve damage. I was worried it was a blood clot or something but after going over it with him he was pretty sure it wasn't but urged me to make sure I bring it up with my oncologist. Hopefully this ones just temporary.

Can the hearing loss be assisted with mechanical devices? Sure seems like hearing aid technology has come tens of miles in advancment since the big clunky over the ear deals. Was at a campout recently and a buddy was there with some new stuff and I never even noticed the little clear tube going to the ear. And that's only there to assist in placing and removing the aid.

As always Dave, I hope for the best in the ears, feet and hands recovery.

Blood tests and ct scan were all clear. Phew. As for my tingling feet and hands he doesn't think its chemo related since it's been months since I had any treatments. He says its possible but highly unlikely. He thinks it will go away on its own and recommended some certain B vitamins so I'll start on those today. They'll be taking my port out a week from today. Can't wait to get rid of this thing.

Thy hate me in hospitals. I constantly bug them can I go can I go. I think they doped me up a little extra today though cause I passed out for an hour in there.

Well my parathesia is getting slightly worse. The vitamin supplements they prescribed aren't working. Time to see a neurologist. Awesome.

paresthesia /par?es?the?sia/ (par″es-the?zhah) morbid or perverted sensation; an abnormal sensation

And you say this is getting worse?? Is this a bad or a good thing?? :D

I don't know. Just sucks having a constant tingling in my feet and hands. And down my left arm at times. Oncologist doesn't think its chemo related as it came on like 2 months after I was done with it. But after visiting my physician yesterday we decided its time to see a neurologist.

Dave I know you are running this through your head and coming up with all kinds of super-nasty issues it could be. Remember, it could also not be...But what you are feeling is human, we've talked about it before. It ain't easy, but just roll with it if you can and let them do their thing and find out WTF the problem is.
I know you've had your fill (and then some) of doctors and hospitals and the whole medical circus, but keep on keepin' on, my friend. You need to know what is going on, and this is the only way to do it.
Hang in there brother and don't let this drive you nuts. go give your wife a big hug and play with that beautiful daughter, that is where your world is. :D

Another 3 month check up today. Bloodwork was all clear. Next up is a Ct scan in January. Gonna have to see a neurologist now though since the numbness and tingling in my feet and hands isn't getting any better. But my oncologist still feels it's something that will eventually go away after some time.

Ya I wasn't exactly excited about today's check up. That and the fact that I get nauseous just walking into the treatment center. Wednesday I get to go get felt up by my urologist. That's always awesome. Lol

Well it's been a little over a year since I started my chemo. Had a ct scan and labs taken last week. Saw my oncologist today. Everything's clear. I still have 2 small shadows of where the Cancer was but they most likely are just residuals as he called it. Like scar tissue. Good news is they've actually gotten smaller since my last Ct scan back in June. And the tumor markers are normal. Bad news is my tingling in my hands and feet are most likely permanent. Along with my ear ringing and hearing issues. But I guess it beats the alternative.

Good to hear. The other stuff I'd think has to get better with time.

I'd totally tell my wife though that the doctor said the more sex faster and better the recovery. [emoji106]
