So does the river current act like a treadmill?

That's classic.

To answer your question, yes it's the exact same as a trendmill running approx 5 mph. Should be a hint for the like 70% that never figured it out.

Lee built that entire boat from top to bottom so I'm sure he or Stan could tell you anything you need to know.

That Beech Expeditor is badass. Cool to see one still flying. I have to think the spray off the props would sting a bit up there on the roof though.

His name is Curt he lives in Vista, Ca. His Schiada is top notch and very healthy. I believe its a 2007 or 2008 boat not sure. The motor was Built by Lew Larson. Him and his wife Jamie frequent Riverland on the Parker strip all year Mostly during the week. Nicest people you would ever meet.

Yes, I believe it is a Beech 18. I don't know all the models, but my father had a Beech d18 when I was a kid and it looked like that.

Just found this....I guess it's goes by both names....I always new it as a Beech 18....My dad flew it as a C-45 in the Air Force.

From the "Hill AFB Military" web site:

BEECH "EXPEDITOR"

Fact Sheet Tools
Printable Fact Sheet

Beech C-45H "Expeditor"
S/N 52-10862

Crew: Two
Engines: Two Pratt & Whitney R-985-AN-14B Wasp Junior radials; 450 hp each
Wingspan: 47 ft 8 in
Length: 34 ft 3 in
Height: 9 ft 9 in
Weight: 5,420 lbs empty; 7,500 lbs loaded
Speed: max: 225 mph; cruise: 160 mph
Range: 1,200 miles at 5,000 ft at 160 mph
Service Ceiling: 26,000 ft
Armament: None
Cost: $52,507 (average C-45 unit cost as of 1944)

The United States Army issued contracts to Beech Aircraft Corporation in 1940 for eleven examples of the twin-engine Beech Model B-18 civil transport, which had first been produced in 1936. These military variants were to be identical to the commercial model, with a crew of two and seating for six passengers.

This utility aircraft, to be designated the C-45, would be used to transport military personnel and light cargo. A second purchase of twenty slightly modified C-45A aircraft was made in 1941. This new version had seating for eight passengers, different engines, and additional navigation equipment.

I think Expiditor is the long nose version of the 18 (or c-45 if it was the military version), at least that is how I was taught and that is what it looks like to me anyway, but this thing is from way before my time, so somebody older or wiser might know better what the differences are.

the blue schiada is my sister JAMIE NELSON and her husband CURTIS NELSON's boat/trophy and they live in vista -- not texas  - and yes, his boat is absolutely retarded .. it pretty much is the rad-est boat myself and anyone else who views and rides in it (our opinion of course)... it's funny they got in the plane pictures, cause they are way low key, they hang in parker during the weeks only ... it's like his 5th "show" schiada, but this one takes the cake ---all you motor/boat heads would have major chubbies looking at this thing .... and of all the places those birds could fly in and have lunch, they pick the shithole like roadrunner to eat at ?? :thumbsdown -- cool pictures though (as always, wheeler)

Where did you read Texas. You quoted 78 Cont. and he wrote VISTA.

Arizona rancher and aircraft pilot Schuyler (or Skyler) "Sky" King the Flying Constable.

King always captures criminals and even spies and finds lost hikers using his plane.

Kings plane is called the Songbird. Though he changed from one plane to another over time the later plane was not given a number (i.e., "Songbird II"), but was simply known as Songbird.

He and his niece, Penny (and sometimes Clipper, his nephew) live on the Flying Crown Ranch, near the town of Grover City, Arizona. Penny and Clipper are also pilots, though still relatively inexperienced and looking to their uncle for guidance and mentoring. Penny is an accomplished air racer and rated multiengine pilot, who Sky trusted to fly the Songbird.

Great pictures Wheeler. Why didn't you go for a ride? Could have got us some better pictures from inside the plane. Maybe rode on a float for some real up close pics! j/k. Great pics, did they take off twice? A ride would have been fun though.
