I'm looking to swap out the carbed marine power 454 in my 2000 21' ultra in the next couple of years. The 454 has been solid, it's a 55 mph boat with it. I was curious what route to take for a swap and rerig. Would it be best to use another big block - bigger hp and pump work, or something like a new LSA 6.2 and dialing it all in?

What are you looking to improve on the boat? More speed? How much do you have to spend?

I'm really curious if anyone has used the newer, smaller engines and how they worked. The current setup is still running fine for now, I wanted to see what all is out there these days as far as performance, reliability and gas use. I'm also a bit curious about the cost, I'm guessing getting a nice 454-502 would be much less.

Right now it's a 330HP marine power 454, runs about 55.
