Finally got a chance to work on building the new cage for the rzr. Got the main portions done. Still need to finish crossbars, dash bar, gussets, etc....but I'm getting closer.

Are you doing a V bar on front?

Dan,

Totally forgot to get you the measurements last night sorry. I thought about a v bar but the cage is only 3 feet wide, v bar seems a little overkill and I am trying to keep this thing as light as possible. It's already heavier than the stock cage by a fair amount, definately stronger but heavier. Hopefully the Alba stage II kit will help with that. :)

Send me a text or FB message tonight to remind me to get those numbers.

Dave as far as finding time.....I have one pissed off wife right now but I got to get this thing done for new years....everytime she complains I just remind her SHE was the one who rolled it :skull

Looks good Chris. My buddy rolled his RZR in Glamis over Thanksgiving and I happen to be the lucky passenger...sheesh.

Bikes running great, thanks again.

Why did you decide to tie the rear cage into the bumper instead of going thru the bed and attaching to the frame? Btw it looks bitchen.

Thanks and I got the bed off and realized there really isn't a "frame" under there...its all bolted on pieces that are pretty thin....basically just to hold the plastic bed up. Most of the shops building cages already figurd that out so that's why they are going around back and down to the frame which is where the suspension ties in. Thought it was a little goofy at first but now I understand.:smackhead It's actually pretty strong, the whole thing basically triangulates/braces against itself.

Oh no...glad you are ok. Good to hear the bike is running well. I tried to burn that manual to disk and the file is corrupt, sorry bud.

looks great....

I know your going light but I still like the intrusion protection with the V bar.

Any thought of maybe adding some peices to the back?

Yes on both accounts....I have the v bars already cut just cant decide if I like/need them...also on the back I was planning on adding some bars around the lights similar to the UTV Inc. cage...Still trying to keep the balance between weight and looks/needs. Still want to do some sort of front bumper for those unexpected bushes that jump out in front of me all the time:D I'll probably make a trip or two before I powder coat it all so I can play around with it. Alba Kit finally shipped today, they were waiting on clutch weights, so I'll get that installed and then see if the weight is going to affect it much. I can always add to it later.

Chis let us know how it does at Glamis on New Years? Not sure if you have had it there yet.

Haven't had it to glamis with paddles yet but new years will be all hard pack, We're headed to Glamis North KOA which is north of Salton Sea, not really glamis at all. Looks like glamis will have to wait till MLK.

What type of performance increase are you expecting with the Alba kit? What all does it entail?

Just for you Dan. :)

Also I decided against the v bars for now....I sat in it again tonight and the opening is just too small to add the bars. At least for now, maybe I'll change my mind after the first trip.

Check out the stage I page and scroll down to read about the whole set up.
They are claiming 20hp at the wheels......not sure about that but everyone that I have talked to that has the stage ii kit has been very happy with the results. For $1300 you get intake with k&ns or uni's, exhaust, fuel controller, cams, and adjustable clutch weights. Seems like a pretty good deal. I'll let you know how it goes.

Going to build a set of side panels for protection....don't like the opening doors. Something like this.....when I get time:eek:

Quite honestly I have all the materials and tabs to do the roof and doors but I am scared to f it all up so I am putting them off till last:skull

I think you will knock out the bars for the side panels easy. Aluminum work is a different deal. Maybe see if you can find someone to hook you up. I would look a little more completed with some bead roller action.

I'm good without opening doors. more secure and cheaper...lol

I didn't comment about the rear because I actually liked it the way it was without. I would do the V bars if it was me! :p Just cheap piece of mind that nothing is coming through the front to potentially hurt us inside.

I really like the looks of that car but I agree with B that it needs some bead rolling done to finish it off.

I can't decide which I like better....the fixed sides with nerf bars to step into the car or the UTV Inc. opening doors.

i like both ... the painted nerf bar looks pretty slick, but i'll be getting the opening doors when it's time to upgrade again.

I really like the way this one looks too but I would need to add steps/nerfs for the wifey to get in.

We've got a bead roller now too so I think I just need to dive in and practice. I have a 5 x 10 foot piece of alum so I have a little extra to play with and I can always get more. I like the lower side panels with the step in. The high doors just don't feel right to me when sitting in the car and again it all adding more weight. The key to success and drivetrain longevity with these xp's I think is going to be keeping them light weight.

Well progress went a little different today :). Actually looks worse than it is. Installing the Alba stage II kit and had to tear then whole thing apart to get the new cams in. I am sure I could have left more on but I didn't want to struggle with access and goof something up. Would have had it complete and back together today but my valve shim kit didn't make it in and the intake side is too loose. Did get the clutch weights, computer, and intake/filters installed. Hope to button this up tomorrow night and get it back together. Next is wiring.....got a painless 7 circuit remote fuse box and relay that will go under the dash. I am really excited to wire the cage....it always goes so smoothly :(

Loving the XP so far. The Alba Stage II kit produced very noticable power, Alba dyno showed 80 hp at the wheels on my XP, and it was still very drivable. Started and idled like stock but pinned you in the seat when you pin it. TOns of low end power and bouncing off the rev limiter at 74 to 75mph with ease. Only down side it the filter set-up for dusty desert rides. Even with Uni's and outerwears, still sucked some dirt into the motor, think it it may have been a mistake in the rush to make the New Years trip and a set of non-oiled filters went on. Hurt the rings, Alba is steppig up and taking care of it at no cost since they were the last ones to touch it before the trip. For desert guys there needs to be an air box to protect against super fine silt/dust. UMP has a new set-up for the xp that looks promising, Alba is getting one in this week to test the flow numbers against the stock air box, which is know to leak on the bottom. Hopefully it flows good numbers, protects better than stock and can work in conjunction with the Alba kit. Only it's $500 :(

http://www.sxsperformance.com/Product/454/Unique-Metal-Products-UMP-RZR-XP-Air-Filter.aspx

For Glamis, the K&N's with outerwears seem to be working well, even the turbo guys are not having any issues. So we will see how the UMP set-up works and then I will have to decide if it is worth the $$ and how much HP loss there is. Oh the pride of ownership:grumble:

Would you say the Alba kit is worth the money? Even better question....would you do it again if you were starting over?
