I have the opportunity to take what looks to be a really clean 1994 2130 powered by a Volvo 5.7 as a partial payment from one of my clients. It is a one owner boat and has low hours. The owner said he did a full service and had a new storage cover made for it about 2 years ago. Since then, it has been on the water once.

I have been out on two Chaparrals in my life. I hear they are very turn key reliable boats. What should I be looking for? Are there any common issues with these boats that I should take into consideration?

94 might be a carb motor not EFI. Be my concern with it sitting and ethanol. Other than that solid boats been on a few and liked the 21' with 5.7 a lot that friend bought new in 2002 for close to $50K.

I have a 2003 Chaparral Sunesta with a carbed small block. Have had zero issues and she's been turn key for me since 2012. Just do the yearly maintenance.

I'm sure he will be posting up pics in the classifieds section if he plans on flipping it.

NGE, honestly most the people I Know that have had Chaparal's have loved them. Just a production boat that is built a little nicer than most the others.

Thanks. I will probably keep it. It would be a nice boat to keep at the river for myself, family and friends to use.

It looks identical to this. Same colors, trailer and all.

I worked weekends as a boat tester for Chaparral from '96 to 2001 and my brother still owns his 1995 2130 SS. Chaparrals from that era are rock solid boats. They handle and ride much better than other production boats of the same size. The throttle may be the only thing worth changing if it hasn't been already. My brother's went out when it was 20 years old and at about 650 hours. Great value in a boat like that. :thumbsup

I had a 2004 Chaparral 256. It was well built, never had any problems with it. There is lots of storage built in them. I've driven a 2130, they are nice boats.

I've had my 2130 for 22 years. Original interior. Original trailer (galvenized). Fantastic interior space and engine access (for the full bench rear seat). I don't think I'll ever get rid of it.
