My brother in law bought my old boat and there is a little plug at the back of the cylinder head that holds exhuast gas in that has rotted out. From what I remember I could barely find them when I had the boat years ago. I don't remember what they are called or where to go about finding a replacement. Does anyone have any ideas. I have attached a picture. Motor is a stock 1977 ford 460.

Are you sure it is exhaust gas?

Prolly 1/2-3/4 pipe plugs. You can get them at any hardware store, MCMaster carr supply. Get brass if you can find them. I would clean the threads with a tap if you have one/can get one.

Can you post a better/lighted/closer picture?

I think those were for "A I R" systems on Ford products .

As Barry pointed out, it's a simple "press in plug", like a freeze plug, but made of steel .

Dig it out, hone out the hole (only to clean it up), and pound in a new plug with a "drift" .
