From Roadrunner on a big weekend it could take a half hour just to make it to the Ranger station.

I realize that's a fairly early morning shot, I wonder what their hours are?
I couldn't imagine doing that past about 10am?

That shot may be the main drag Gecko rd that is two lane.
Last repaving they did they left sections of the old rd in a few spots and paved around it leaving nice paved spots for RV's.
Those spots are covered with sand so ya have to know where they are.

according to Big Belly Crew today is the last day the store will be open by the old owners. Polaris is leaving all the vendors in the dark as to if they are going to let them use vendor row or not.

I believe a guy named Dev owned it and is a moderator at GD.com in the SxS section.

It may have all changed but:
The bar has been closed a long time, the pizza place still running (in winter) last I was there. Their were some issues with the well so that may have effected it all and it's closed.

I understood Polaris with Greg Biffel leased some land behind the store and erected a building.
Pretty much understood it was duners that created the SxS craze taking to the next level from being a 800 cc hunters vehicle and Polaris is keeping that connection close.

Went through there this past Monday and the barricades are still up at Ranger Station/Hwy. 78. Lots of equipment still there, saw crews working.

With the road and pads improved it will draw more people there and less will be inclined to wander to where I camp

Gecko was all done....it was great out there almost no one...It was in the high 90's during the day but did not seam to bad.
Car ran great...only about 10deg hotter than normal. All in all a great first trip.
BTW we were thirsty :drink

Yes...a ranger came by during the day and mentioned that we will need a permit for a fire or bbq. I had a bbq out. I just told him I would get one. Someone at the fire must have a permit or they will make you put it out. If the person with a permit goes to bed then the fire must be out unless someone else has a permit...

48 at night warms up to 90 by noon.
We’re in DUMONT now 7:28 pm still 100 out.
Some friendly Auzzies checked us out.
