Have had a haze in old gel develop over the years.
Recently gotten horrible so I color sanded and polished it out as well as possible, still has some on the deck but I'm worried about burning through the clear that was shot a few years ago.

Any idea what causes it and how to get rid of it?

What kind of clear was shot over the red?

It could be moisture.
It could be the clear has little or no UV protection.

The gel has always had problems, I had the deck redone a few years ago when it started pooping off. It's over an 1/8" thick. We popped off pieces as big as dinner plates with a pocket knife.:yikes:D
It was cleared on the deck only, blended back just a little down the gunnels. The haze is all over though just worse on the deck, none on the sides just the horizontal surfaces.
I color sanded, 1000, 1500, 2000 buffed with 3M rubbing compound, the 3M polish then glaze.

Was worried I'd burn through the clear so didn't color sand the deck as much as I could have.

Automotive products? Quality clear gel coat would last longer than that.
