Awesome, never heard of one, looks like something you would see in Africa. So, like NP said.....?

Hey Brian,
They were imported from Africa some time ago. Why? I don't know. But, they've done remarkably well and have a sustainable population that will support selective hunting.

I've never been. Never tried to draw a tag. I play the Elk-Sheep-Antelope lottery every year here in Arizona.

Is that the once in a lifetime draw?

Oryx meat is fantastic. If you get any ground you gotta mix with some pork/beef to get it to make patties because it's so lean. But man is it good!!

Congrats!

Yes its a once in a lifetime draw. NM Is proud of them animals the tag was 1600.00 The butcher recommend 10% beef also and he figured i should end up with about 125 lbs.

That's a nice oryx (Gemsbok) bull you shot, congratulations. Yes, they're excellent eating as well as a fun hunt and beautiful shoulder mount.
