You are definitely comfortable in that thing when the wife is wearing flip flops while off roading!

We really weren’t off roading. We were coming back from breakfast and shot off the road for 100 yards or so.

We only had our lap belts on and things could have turned out much worse. New rule is no matter what you get in you’re belting completely up.

Flip flops are the shoe of choice though unless it’s cold....then it’s uggs

Can you explain how the rear linkage works? Is the little links above at axle for sway?

And then.
here comes the snow ball.....

It started with a broken axle and the need to beef it up and get a new Currie prerunner 9 inch

And then
Well with the new axle might as well get bigger brakes for better stoping - more safety is always better....

And then
You need a new drive shaft, sway bar, limit straps. Might as well go thru the whole deal with it’s all out and new....

And then
Might as well rebuild your shocks, up date the bump stops.....

And then
since you rebuilt the rear shocks migh as well do the Frt shocks while your at it, why have New rebuilt rears and Not the frts makes sense

And then
LoL

I hope you get it back up and rolling quick

Fortunately I already have all of that. New chromoly axles and $2300 less in the old bank account and I will have her back next week.

Got it back in the nick of time to make the patty’s day poker run. Not happy with the mechanic who did the work but she back and she’s back on 4 tires. Lol.

Had a really fun day today. Did about 70 miles. Broke a sway bar mount and ball joint.

Wife had a great time drinking mimosas with her friend in the back seat so it was exactly why we bought this

There’s was an issue with the crossover steering where it was eating up bushings and would rattle real bad.
This was before.

During the St patty’s day poker run we broke a rear sway bar mount and found the other was starting today fail as well.

So today it’s out with the old and in with the new.

This should be much much better. Slowly but surely finding and fixing all of the weak links.

Can’t wait for desert season. Normally winter is just a time filler in between summer. But this year we have been so busy not time for river.

Going through some photos on my phone a d found this. Which made me realize I got to get moving on some of the projects I have planned for the exploraptor

I can’t wait for winter as well. I had so much going on with house projects and being slammed at work we only made one Havasu/river trip this summer.

Exploraptor is bad ass Billdo. Makes me want to bring my old ranger out of retirement and build something fun.

So I have been fixing a lot of little things on the truck just from years of use.

4wd would work when it felt like it (which was never when I needed it). So went trough it and found an electrical gremlin and got rid of him. Now every time I hit the button she goes into 4x4.

The power windows would also work when they felt like it. Went through them and cleaned all the switches and contacts. And replaced one of the motors now I ahem working Windows. [emoji106]

Ac was also temperamental found a relay that was bad so took care of that.

Didn’t really take any pics because it was all nothing exciting.

Today I finally did something that was picture worthy. My group knows ocotillo like the back of their hands and they are fast. So I was constantly getting behind and holding them up. Since I wasn’t sure where we were going they would have to wait up for me. Well now I have GPS. And have enetered all of the Main way points and not so main points for Ocotillo and an a Borrego. [emoji106] plus since it’s iPad based I have al of my music on their as well [emoji106][emoji106]

Now the co driver can talk out directions and control the music and I can focus on driving. [emoji106]

What setup are you running for Nav using the iPad? App? Case and mount? Been wanting to do something in my Ram but not sure what direction to go...

I’m using the motion x hd app. The case is an otter box that I have had for a while and the mount is a ram mount.

Nice. Next you might need to re-wrap your steering wheel.

All systems are working and truck is ready for winter. Now just waiting on the weather to cool down so we can go to ocotillo. Until then she will be sitting in our warehouse.

Glad to have my driveway back and I’m sure my neighbors are glad to see it gone. [emoji23][emoji23]

Thanks!

It does what we need for sure. Now that I have all the little electrical gremlins fixed. This year season we will run it and make a list of things for next year to fix. Planning on doing a v8 swap the following year. Then it will be perfect in my mind. [emoji106]

I think it’s about 12” wider than a stock explorer. It fits between the wheel wells of the trailer.

You better break out the tube bender and straighten out that front bumper!

Going to have a new one built. Pulling the light bar off the roof and having it flushed into bumper. And doing a much cleaner looking bumper.

Is there anything you wish you could change or have done differently?
I am about to start building a 93 4x4
Dana 44 TTB and short course 4 link in the rear.
It would be nice to hear “ this is the best.” Or “I don’t like this..”

And if all goes to plan I will be 80” wide at the tires so it will fit in my 20’ enclosed featherlight.

In all reality wish it had more stock looking glass. The raptor conversion is hard to see over when climbing up hills.

Definitely go with 44 Dana. I’m running 35 still and that’s a big weak point in my build.

That’s kinda what I was thinking with the 44.
And I’m thinking the McNeil glass all around and the drop hood so I can see a little better.

As far as pushers go. Hard pressed to find something smaller than 36.
A friend has been pulled over for being over length before. Cop measured him and wrote home a ticket. And made him drop his trailer on the side of the highway.
The motorsports law is a slippery slope....

Things aren’t going as quickly as I wanted them too. But in all reality the truck runs and does everything just fine so Im not real motivated to tear it apart.

I did tackle a little project before desert season started.

Built a center console. Houses the radio, com’s, fixed a bunch of electrical, relocated switches to console added lighting and most importantly....added cup holders.
