The box on my 04 F250 (with the 6.0) has been nothing more than a figment of imagination for around a year. Time to do something about it.

I've owned them all. Had a dodge, finally snapped out of that Chrysler fucking fantasy land, wore out 2 chevys. Now I'm driving this ferd till the wheels fall off.

I actually own equipment to apply spray on bedliner. (Spray foam, and polyurea coatings) it's what I do.

Sitting undisturbed in the house garage. I'm not tearing into it until this new bed is ready. I've got a ton of welding left, plus figure out tail and reverse light mounting stuff.
I saw this pic on facedork for sale. It's a long box, so I'd have to modify it. Guy wanted 800 bucks.
I'm in 300 for the steel so far...
My time isn't accounted for, because I look at it as entertainment.

Not too much to shown for todays efforts. Threw a set of new rear brakes in a buddies truck this morning, wound up bullshitting for 2 hours after we finished.
Then ran out of 75/25, so had to chase down a fresh bottle of that. Quit welding when the damn thing birdnested.
Screw it. Went to the sweetie pies place.

So, you wanted the carnage. Well, I Hope this hot mess doesn't disappoint...

Only one of the 8 box bolts put up much of a fight. Shit was so rusted up, I didn't even waste the time trying to take them out.

It was kind of like pulling a rotten tooth.

I cleaned up the frame a little, and set the new one on. I've gotta figure out what I want to do with tail lights, the fuel fill, maybe a new bumper....
Anyway, I'm glad my measurements were accurate enough, as the tonneau cover fits.

Haven't decided what I want to do for tailgate latches yet either.

I am VERY aware of that.
Ain't sticking 1500 in this pos truck.
I'm in it less than 500. That's all the materials, lights, 44lb spool of wire, fresh bottle of gas for the mig, not to mention the savings of me not having a bar tab for the duration of this little exercise in practicing my welding abilities.

See a few posts above. I enjoy this. Simply slapping on a new box is easy. Building a new one, without plans, going off a picture,...
Well that's the fun, and kind of the point.

Well after too much time away from home, I was finally able to spend some time working on this again.
I had ordered some taillights off Amazon.
After making a spot for them, I hated how it looked.

Stuck out too far, and just ugly in general.

So I cut all that shit off, and tried something different.

I like this better. It's a bit more streamlined. It'll do the trick.
Going to fill in front and back.

After spending some time admiring RD's
Mini schiada, and spending a whole bunch more time staring at a windshield, I was inspired to start the tailgate for my new pickup box.

I really liked the look of the hardware on the ride plate.

So I decided to incorporate a similar look. Bit of a cheesehead twist though.

I'm going to run the rods through the angle. Gotta make a handle for the middle.

I need some taller jackstands.
Pinion bearings are shot after 225,000...
I'm not messing with trying to muster 400 some ft lbs under the truck to get the proper preload. Makes more sense to swap it out with one from the boneyard.

New brakes, a caliper, lines, and new rotors. Installed, and bolted back in. Gotta bleed the brakes, then have a beer.
Been a long day.

Bled the brakes, ran it into town and fueled it up. No more shudder in the rear end.
I'm calling it a win for today.

Needs some U joints and some new rubber, and I'll be ready for another 50k miles. I'd rather throw parts at it, than have a payment. Leaves more loot for boat gas and beer.
