I️ can’t seem to find the thread discussing rim size and offset so I️ started a new thread. I️ remember reading certain offsets effecting the suspension scrub or something like that?

Anyhow...

After getting a flat the first day out on thanksgiving it pissed me off enough to buy a new set of wheels and tires . Going with the 15” methods on 32’s. I️ figure I️ can always make more power if it’s a bit sluggish.

Who has the best wheel and tire package OTD?

I talked to the method/tensor guy at the sand show and he said the 32's don't last as long as the 30's..Claimed they were only gettting 1500 miles out of the 32's and closer to 5 k from the 30's

That’s huge difference! I️ may not go with tensers though.

Fuel off-road had their 32x10x15 for cheap at the Havasu Sand Expo. They're light for a 32" tire but they only have them for 15" wheels. Tensors are great but heavy unless you get the desert race tire. And Maxxis Libertys are light tires if you can find them. They're really popular right now. I have a few friends that swear by them.

America’s tire/discount tire. I have 2500 miles on a set of 30”
Tensor tires with no flats or plugs

because havasu is so nasty on tires im going with kevlars. http://motoracetire.com/product/mrt-race-atv-utv-tire/

I figure its better to spend an extra 100 per tire than to have to keep replacing tensors or mongrels. i have 500 miles on my machine and have already plugged two tires...

im going with cheap STI beadlock HD9s for the wheels....125 a piece and look nice.

on a sidenote i picked up a pair of STI Sand Drifters for glamis today for $150 brand new....sometimes craigslist is a good thing!

I have Method’s and 30” tensors myself. Love them.

I was going to buy local through Triumph. But Rocky Mtn MC beat them by a good amount.

Seems like a lot of you guys are going with 30” tires. Any particular reason?

I’m right around Rocky Mtn pricing with mounting. Check out the EFX motohammers, I just put them on mine and am real happy so far but only have have 180 Miles so far. They are DOT tires as well.

I run the Method 406 with Tensor 30", no issues with scrub/bumpsteer/etc. I have over 2000 miles and they are still wearing really well, this will be the last season though. The wheels are 8" with a 4x4 offset/backspacing. 32" is a BIG tire for a non-turbo car, not sure if yours is turbo or not, if not go with 30", less wear on belt and still a big tire.

Check sidebysidesports.com they are in Escondido and a really good guys. They will usually match or beat anybody to make the sale.

Thanks for the insight. I️ have a non turbo car.

I️ was surprised I️ couldn’t find more info on the web/forums. I️ found a great article by shock therapy on how important Wheel offset is and how it effects “king pin inclination” which was very helpful.

I just picked up a set of method 406s on STU’s and Tributes in the front. Can’t beat Triumph Motorsports prices

Wish triumph was closer to me. I’m ready to pull the trigger.

I pulled the trigger today. Went with the BFG 32” SXS tire with a 401 15”x7” method. The dilemma I ran into was Method doesn’t offer a 5-2 offset in that wheel size , only 4-3 which is “against” what the shock therapy article says.

I use the car more as a cruiser anyways with the family so I went with looks over function.

While I am at it I am doing a clutch upgrade so I don’t burn through belts.

Jason at SXS unlimited is going to do everything for me next week. Only shop close to me and he seemed like a good guy and put me at ease regarding my tire/Wheel size selection.

I’m going to do exhaust and re map the computer after New Years. Unless I go to a turbo or supercharger set up.

We will see how it works out in Havasu for New Years.

I went with BFG Class 10 Tires (35") and Waker Evens Wheels on both. Perfect on the Can-Am, I haven't run the Razor yet.

Left u a message.

I wanted the extra ground clearance of the 32. I figure I can always make more power and add suspension to the car later.

I know, I'm sitting here at my computer as we speak drawing up new ones.

You should draw me up a set while you are at it! [emoji1303][emoji16]

Drawing them is the hard part, machining them is easy. LOL

LOL. I bet! What do you know about scrub angle and kingpin inclination?

I want to fix the 4/3 offset by changing the geometry in the suspension.

I'm making mine with the stock geometry.
With going to the 35" tires I now have less scrub radius and less "feedback" from the road. So far I like it on the Can-Am.
"When" I get the Polaris running, then I will put the effort into the geometry in the suspension.
Why not just get 5/1 wheels instead of " Fixing" the geometry?

Here is a link from Shock Therapy that explains a lot: http://shocktherapyst.com/wheel-offset-and-suspension-performance/

Method doesn’t make a 5/1 in 15” 401 machined. Only 4/3 in a 15”.

I want what I can’t have. 15” 5/1 401 machined.

They do make it in a 14”. I just want a 15” Wheel. I think it looks good

That's taking the long way home for sure.
Different wheels are a far sight easier.
