For Immediate Release:
Mira Loma, CA 10/19/2016 - Made In America Boat Raffle
Music Changing Lives is raffling winner's choice of a 28' Fundeck or a 27' Daytona boat complete with trailer, custom built and Made in America by Eliminator Boats. The launch of the raffle is being held this Saturday and will run through December 2017.The winning ticket will pulled at a Celebration Gala on New Year's Eve 2017.
Music Changing Lives' goal is to sell 8,000 tickets at $200 each and raise 1.6 million. Founder and CEO of the program, Josiah Bruny says "This funding will greatly impact the community and support our current afterschool programs which are offered at low and no cost to children and families. Monies raised will allow us to expand into six new schools and two new community centers, serving approximately 400 more students who will have a place to come to create music and art, receive tutoring, mentoring, financial literacy, and leadership development with the purpose of reducing the communities dropout rate."
In California, dropout rates are as high as 30%. Many public school students in underserved communities have little or no access to the Arts. There is a dire need to empower those students through arts education that goes beyond the classroom approach. A report published in 2011 from the Committee on the Arts and Humanities found that students with high involvement in the arts, including minority and low-income students, performed better in school and stayed in school longer than students with low involvement. Additionally, when budgets are tight, music and arts programs are the very first things to get cut, thus creating a need for ancillary enrichment programs afterschool.
Music Changing Lives was founded in 1998 to fight the dropout rates and provide access to the arts, through an innovative afterschool program that sparks their passion for creativity and motivates them to excel in all aspects of their life. Since their founding Music Changing Lives has served over 42,000 children and families through their programs.
They presently operate six schools and three community centers in Riverside and San Bernardino counties and have received numerous awards for the impact their program has made in the lives of young people including the Daily Point of Light Award created by President George H. W. Bush to recognize those taking voluntary action in their communities to solve serious social problems.
