Looks pretty cool. It's on the list of places to visit one day.

Looks like fun. Are there many trails that can be driven at a decent speed or is most of it like that?

What's a good time of year to go weather wise? We've got a big group that does a ride every year in Utah during the summer. Is Moab hot this time of year?

How often do you go? Would love to tag along on your next trip. Have our own stuff of course. Must take at least 11 hrs. to Moab? :)

Sorry I missed your post.

It's getting tougher to attend because the rally is on when school is in session.
One kid left in the house, Maynard, and he refuses to skip any classes or any school function for any reason.

We went to the first Rally where they opened up the whole county to SxS's travel.
The townsfolk did a free breakfast every morning.
Now,, the driving on the public roads is by escorted caravan to one of 7 destinations starting points and back, which is OK mind ya,, and not so sure about the HUGE pancake breakfast.

If their is an adult kid of ours avail to watch Maynard,,, we may make it a last minute departure kinda deal,, or I may just go with a crew of RDP'ers or DSD'ers.

Their is a mega huge animal rescue facility in MOAB my wife donates vast sums of family trust fund $ to and that's a big draw to her to go visit it and help out a few days as well.

It gets hot and a bit humid.
That reason and it's popularity has kept the rally in spring.

Last we went their were 7 or maybe it was 9 optional trails or "rides".
We just do the easy runs and that's plenty of fun.

A couple super easy and picturesque trails, a couple mostly in/out of water and / or slightly technical ,,, and the rest mid to very technical. The technical can be quite hairy!!
Huevos and a willingness to break your machine on one run.
Their are guys that stay awake at night just contemplating the next run.
Groups who's members whole lives are dedicated to it.

Plenty of assistance available and willing to help.
Their is a huge following of rock crawlers in the USA and the Rock Crawling bug has hit the SxS enthusiasts as well and it's a fast growing Off road sport so it's kinda incorporated into a few runs.

If you feel so incline, go on the big technical run and wreck,, the event organizers will pull you out and get your SxS back to camp and in your trailer.

It's a very well run event with HUGE sponsorship.

The best times to go are the "saddle" times. Late March (we've gotten snow the last weekend before) through May and again from late September to early November.

The town is awesome. Great cafes, bars, and tourist shopping. I've lost count of how many times I've been to Moab. Don't miss the petroglyphs along the river and the dinosaur tracks if you have kids. Hole-in-the-rock is a must stop also (once is enough though, I've been 4-5 times taking newbies in :rolleyes)

There are a lot of houses and condos to rent. We have found that best and cost effective with kids or another couple. I recommend in town versus staying down by the arena.
