The Wednesday of Desert Storm is always the low key opening for Desert Storm. Consider it a "soft opening" of sorts. Folks are rolling into town and getting setup, others are enjoying some boating, and promoters, participants and sponsors are gearing up for tomorrow's Street Party. While all these things are going on there are still a couple of very important events that take place on this precursor day before the big party starts.

For starters, Wednesday has historically been the day that Lake Racer LLC and Teague Custom Marine put on Krusin' For Kids, a charity event that gives boat rides to special needs people from the Havasu area. Always popular with the boaters and kids alike, this event which is organized by the New Horizons and Mile Marker organizations always puts a smile on everyone's face. If you have the chance in the future be sure to get involved!

After the boats are put away and last minute finishing touches are put on the rigs for the Street Party, everyone gathers for the Desert Storm kick off party. This years party was held at Horizon Motorsports which is one of the largest boat dealership/brokers in Lake Havasu. With their huge showroom and plenty of great boats out front, Preston and his crew from Horizon gave everyone more than enough space to meet up with old friends and get to know new ones.

With bbq and drinks provided by the sponsors, Swoop Motorsports and Lickity Split Racing and a silent auction to benefit New Horizons and Mile Marker plus music and a photo booth, this years kick off party didn't disappoint!

Tomorrow is the Street Party and temps are expected to be around 100 degrees, so put on some comfy shoes, drink lots of water, and throw on some SPF cuz this Desert Storm is set to be a scorcher! Be sure to stop by the RDP booth for a cold beverage, stock up on some RDP gear and check out live music by Matt Farris! See you all on Main Street!
