Following the boating world’s outboard-obsessed trajectory, FLIBS was loaded with enough of them clamped on catamarans and console boats to make your head spin and bank account burst. Mystic made its mark dropping drapes off new debuts starting with its first quad 500R-powered M4200. Headed to its new owner in Fort Myers, the custom-built center console donned in original Gator Step decking underfoot and doused in Lamborghini blue hues, pairs with the Italian one parked in his garage.

In the slip across the way, many will recognize the lavish M5200, launched in the same spot just one year ago. Fitted with quad 600s taking 20-plus passengers to 80-plus mph, the fourth from the mold features an all-new layout (as an available option) including a triple rear-facing sun lounger and spacious U-shaped seating arrangement to aft, and an extended cabin for weekend getaways.

Many will concur the latter $2.1 million 52-footer flagship was the headliner; guessing from the above title – my pick was the Second Generation C4000 catamaran.

Mystic Gen 2 C4000
Remember when the Mystic C4400 first appeared? If you said the 2015 Miami Boat Show, you got it right. After retooling efforts, it shrank to a C4000, only to then shred more weight from the lighter all-carbon fiber lamination schedule. But the DeLand, Fla., company didn’t stop there. Though the hull remains the same, the appeal of the G2 – apart from the teal, blue and green gorgeousness of the premiere model – is revealed in the retooling of the deck, special windshield system and roomy cockpit.

Cosmetically, it’s a lower profile deck. It much flatter and comes across super sleek to the human eye. Talking point number two is the brand new windshield system. Director of sales and dealer development, Greg Weber, reveals, “It’s an industry first. We’re the only outboard catamaran with a custom-built, full-glass windshield. It offers better visibility because there’s no distortion when you look through. It’s stronger, easier to maintain, and very thick so you don’t have to worry about scratching it.”

Mystic’s owner/founder John Cosker also notes, “The beam remains unchanged, but the walkways are a little narrower. This allows for a wider cockpit and makes it easier to get around the seats. The dash has also been upgraded. We added more storage pockets on the outer sides, deck lockers have drop in storage cubbies, and we included the option to have a flip-out garbage can or soft-sided cooler.”

A matchless manufacturer, Mystic always puts forth powerboats that exude a rare combination of sumptuousness, safety, comfort and raw racing speeds. The G2 C4000 is no exception. For the first go around with the 500Rs, just-out-of-the-box speeds hovering around 113 mph were reported. After the new planned props hit the market, once dialed in to adjust for the drive shaft increase to 1 inch and prop-shaft diameter increase to 1.25 inches … the sky’s the limit for the Gen 2 speedo!
