Outerlimits Sets Two Speed Records WASHINGTON, N.C.?On Monday, April 28 and Tuesday, April 29 Outerlimits Powerboats established two new V-bottom speed records on the Pamlico River. The Bristol, R.I., custom high-
performance powerboat builder used its SV 43 and SV 29 offshore raceboat to set twin- and single-engine ?Special Event Kilometer Records? sanctioned, recorded and verified by the American Power Boat Association.

Owned by offshore racer and longtime Outerlimits customer Joe Sgro and powered by twin 1,650-hp engines from Mercury Racing, the SV 43 achieved a two-way average speed through a straight measured kilometer course on the river of 180.470 mph on Tuesday. That upped the existing record of 172.876 mph, which the boat had established the day before. Offshore racer Brian Forehand drove and throttled the 43-foot canopied V-bottom during all of its runs.

?This took 10 years of patience and letting some of the insults roll off our backs to finally reclaim the V-bottom speed record,? said Mike Fiore, the owner and founder of Outerlimits. ?Step one was to survive and stay in business. Step two was to put the right team together. If it weren't for Mercury Racing and Brian Forehand we
wouldn't have done this."

While the Outerlimits SV 29, Snowy Mountain Brewery, owned by Dr. Michael Janssen and powered by Mercury 525 EFI engine, did not run on Monday, it did take to the water on Tuesday and set an SV Single Special Event Kilo Record of 100.840 mph. Forehand also drove and throttled the 29-foot canopied V-bottom. "Today was a summary of the most advance marine technology in experienced hands," Janssen said. "The team of boat builders,

engine manufacturers and experienced safety personnel was able to organize and execute a kilo run demonstrating 2014 boat design and power technology with speeds that were unheard of many years ago."
