In Two Harbors Catalina their is the USC Marine Studies Center at the East entrance to the Harbor.
Just a few yards to the North West is a terrific beach the kids can snorkel off. If they swim or dingy over to USC,, the Leopard Sharks will make an appearance and swim with them.

"They're friendly and don't bite" Haley, the Marine Biology student told the kids. It's important to know that.

Water has been 68F so the kids busted out the wet suits. Maynard got a sea scooter for Christmas so the kids are good to go for about an hour, but ya don't need that gimmick, free diving is just as easy.
Best time is in the AM and you can beach your dingy. No fishing nor anchoring , nor collecting.
Kids love it.

Some good, unique functions happening at the USC Center this summer. Every Saturday from 10 am to noon they have guided tours of the center. It includes feeding the eels and all kinds of fun, hands on stuff for the kids.

The eels do bite and the bat rays sting so we keep our distance.
One kid walked up to the bar yesterday had 9 stitches covered by a thumb condom and it was the eels, again.
Bat ray stings treated with very hot water. It breaks down the proteins.

You can walk over to USC on the trail from town, dingy or take the shore boat over.
