44 is a hell of an age to start racing. Still throw the white plastics on there every once in a while too. It did get a little "freshening up" last year. It's a great bike, the guys I race with keep trying to swipe the wheels for the hubs. View attachment 234951
Ouch...sorry to hear about that.
44 is tough to start but its that stuff that keeps you young and going! If you ever see an orange manx out at Dove or driving through Jawbone flag me down or stop for a beer! We have been mixing it up a bit and heading out there.
Love all the pics in this thread!
I've been meaning to take my kids to the Honda Learn to Ride school in Colton. Do they do a good job? How are they with 40 yr. Old women who can't get past a fear of falling down? I keep telling her that there are 3 more gears after second, why not use them? lol
View attachment 235054 This is my wifes BFF. They used to race together back in the 80's / 90's. Merc was quite the racer back then. They both teach MX classes at Honda in Colton now.
wow does that bring back memories...me and Mercedes has many bar to bar battles in the late 80's racing the 125 int. class. My uncle would just shake his head and say "you got beat by a girl......" that chick could ride.....
Man, your GOOD! On the camera and the bike. Your pictures are kick ass.
A few from the last, but hopefully not last ever, Catalina GP. The pic of Pastrana's bike was just before it had a nuclear meltdown because his hillbilly mechanic put gas(not premix) in it. The last one is of my brother and just about everyone's boyhood mx idol. View attachment 234998 View attachment 234997 View attachment 234999 View attachment 235000 View attachment 235001

Here's a shot from the LEGP that I thought would fit into this thread.
Great thread - boats are fun but nothing beats the rush that can be had on the dirt.

My first MX race was in 1966. Yamaha 125 with the "git kit". One of my lifetime buddies on the Penton.
Astrodome 1979 I think.
Love the old pics
This year at Diamond Don's Vintage National. 1972 380 CZ. Swapped the lead at least 5 times with the guy on the Maico. He won.
God I do love to ride.

As much as I love bikes I have to disagree on this.

We will have to just agree there is a rush for both. For me - I can park the boats longer than I can park the bikes before that urge hits me and I just have to do it.
Short tracking in a barn with another lifelong buddy. 1980

Here is a map of our enduro loop, a little over 10 miles, we have been riding it over 20 years. When we want a change,
we ride it at night backwards. Lots of tights and technical, a good rider will average 45 minutes or so per lap. View attachment 237259
