Long story. I've had this car for over two years. Had to hide it from the wife (long story part) Finally got to it yesterday. Got the core support and the rest of the front of the car off. Engine out next weekend.

Have an engine out of my 2007 Silverado MAX, 6.0. (all aluminum) Larry Peto has it now, building a Whipple charged ticket machine.

Stay tuned. :D

My second favorite year :D Will be a cool thread to follow, dreaming of the moment I will have some cash set aside to redo the paint on mine again, the clear coat buckled a couple of years ago. Converting to hydroboost brakes and stiffening up the suspension are pretty high up on the "to do" list for me as well.

You reckon your Hero, Obama ever pulled a motor out of anything? :rolleyes

I'm sure he pulled the power out of a lot of stuff.

So what color on the interior? Cream?

Right now, its Black Widow with Scorpion trim on the floor. There's also some pack rat stuffing in the trunk. Had to stick my hand in blind spots through webs and shit.

So what your really trying to tell us is that your Chevelle is your Mistress. I'll buy that story...

make sure you put a 4l80 behind it if you're going automatic. Dont mess with the 4l60, I'd imagine your whipple charged L76 will be putting out North of 600+rwhp

Cool project! Are you planning to keep it or just build and flip?

It's a long story, will tell it as soon as the "other mistress" is done

What does Larry have planned for the motor?

Larry is evil. He is telling me tales of 900-925 HP. I can only hope. I have total faith in Larry, my boat motors make HUGE power and last.

I typically keep shit way too long. I've wanted a 66 since high school.

He has built me a few boat motors over the yrs , and they have all been bulllet proof. Would love to have 900hp for the street. Your going to need big tires:D

What does it run? Very nice ride, mine used to look really nice but the paint gave up the ghost, still runs pretty hard.

Nice car.

Haven't run it in the 1/4. Only has lap belts and won't pass tech. At Irwindale in the 1/8 it went 6.68

Very nice, deep in the 10's I would guess, been forever since I ran irwindale but mine went somewhere in the 7.4's. Mine won't exactly pass tech either, no cage, driveshaft hoop (it does have an x-pipe though to do the job), but that isn't a problem for me in tech since the car runs 14's :rolleyes Never going to cut it up, its my first car and will just be a street car that I take to the track occasionally. I do want to squeeze it though and see what it will do, engine and trans were built with it in mind.

Yeah, I have 1133HP Peto power in my jet bote and flog the living hell out of it. It just keeps on hammering. The same engine was in my 89' 21 Daytona and the 25 Daytona Lakepal has now. Been "freshened up" four times.

I am pulling the motor/trans on the Chevelle this weekend. Once I pull the interior, it is going to a hot rod shop buddy of mine for a mini tub. Gonna get reeeeaallly greedy with tires on this one.

It is a splashed 21' Daytona by Rick Bitz. Super lite (840), the changes he's made to the hull are cool. The deck is 18 inches further forward. TONS of room in the boat.

Got the motor/trans out today. What a pain in the ass, had to do it in the dirt next to my house, Didn't want the oil and shit to leak all over my garage/drive. Engine hoists don't roll on dirt, neither does the car push out from under it easily.

OK, got the car to the "Hot Rod Shop." A buddy/customer wanted to take a swing at this. So, here we go.

The body, frame got separated, condition of both were fair, some rust to be expected. Trunk floor and foot wells not bad, going to be able to save them. Both rear quarters are marginal at fix or replace.

Next process was to fit the frame for the ABC Performance "mini-tub" kit. This will allow for 335's maybe even 345's. I was a bit nervous as it would prove difficult to find another frame if this one gets wasted in the process.

The power plant is a Larry Peto LS out of my 2007 Silverado "Max." Larry insisted 925-950HP wouldn't prove too difficult. His last comment was something like "be sure to get some big tires." We also decided to completely box the frame. This is yet another off the shelf performance item from ABC Performance.

Got required frame mods done, Painted frame, not powder coated. Decided that due to having access to a paint booth and repainting touch up spots.

For a rear assembly, I went with a Moser, big 4 Torino style 35 spline 3:73. They were great to work with, insisted it's good for over 1000HP. Upgraded to an Ridetech 4 link to handle keeping the rear, in the rear.

For front suspension (A arms) I went with Ridetech, Strongarms as well. They seem to really be dialed in their stuff. The also supplied a 2" drop spindle. I went with their "Air-spings" all the away around.
For Brakes, I went with Baer. They're great to work with , fitment is excellent and they're a local (Phoenix) company. I used them on a 68 Vette resto mod I just (almost finished) that's another LOOOOONG story worth telling. Besides, they look really, really good.

I was planning on just using the stock steering since this isn't going to be a "G-Machine." Larry Peto called me to chat about oil pan clearance, which there isn't any with the stock steering. I decided to go with the Flaming River, R&P. It comes complete, with everything including a steering column.

Next week, I should receive LS conversion headers and motor mounts from BRP Hot Rods. He specialized in LS conversions for 60's hot rods.

Looks like you've got a top shelf resto underway! What color will it be? Pretty cool for a guy who wears tights several days a week. :D:D
