Picked this up on Friday. 21' River Cruiser. 540 Twin Turbo. Any history that anyone knows, let me know.

My employee Mike King built that boat a long time ago. Very good running boat. One of the first ever to run the engine that far forward and run speeds it did back in the day. I wanna say, if if remember correctly it was one of the first carbureted boats to run the 95-100 mark back then. It does turn awesome and was a very fast boat, I do remember that for sure....

Sweet! I spoke with Mike for a while at the Catalina Ski Race and he gave me a pretty good rundown on the boat.

This is not my favorite pic of my boat (the piling sticking out above the bow) but it did have a nice surprise I discovered after downloading the pic... must be getting old, I would have never missed that in my younger years. ATTACH=CONFIG]328846[/ATTACH]

Saw this beautiful 22 on the river yesterday. It has a Merc racing outdrive with a blower motor. The electric blue is awesome, pic does not do it justice.

Do you have anymore pics of this? Especially of the interior, and engine hatch? Boat looks very similar to mine.

I will look had the interior redone with rear bench and full engine cover by a guy in corona Ca he did a great job I wanted him to do the 21 but could not find him :( I sold the boat to a guy in Vegas that also had a schiada race boat thanx

I think this boat was built by Mike King for Paul Spencer originally. Paul Chandler campaigned it it ski racing for quite a while #855 Freedom Ski Team. Terry Cook was the last owner I know of.

New owner has been out to the ski races and has talked to me. He even bought some replacement waste gates for it from me when he was rebuilding the engine. I explained some of the boat's history since I had driven it quite a bit pulling Corey in practice, and in fact pulled Brad Raines in his first ski race at Havasu with that boat.

Hey the 66 schiada you have was my first boat.A buddy and I bought it minus an engine from my nieghbor who found it at canyon lake under a dirt covered tarp.It was originally powered by a big block pontiac I think and the Harper boys ran a blown LS 6 in it for many years before I bought it.Does it still have the name Rat Trap on the back? The artwork and lettering on that was done by Rassi Harper who worked on many of Leonard Schiadas boats. There was an article in the december 04 issue of Hot Boat about it.The model for the photo shoot at Elsinore was Kendra Wilkinson of playboy fame.Good to see it still running.

All the geometry, engine location etc on that boat was what mine was built off of. the Only difference is mine has long plates and an external rudder. That thing was a monster in its day and still looks great!

Sweet! Your engine looks a little further back than mine. Your boat is super clean.

I believe yours is at 26" if I remember right.

Not sure on the measurement but it's way up there. I can fit a back seat behind engine if I really wanted too.

Hey, The 66 Schiada Rat Trap is still running strong and still has the name. I also have the 2004 December Hotboat magazine. It now has a 468 chevy. Speedboat just did a photo shoot of it last October.

Ya, it's way forward. There is another (blue) that is rigged the same but a year older. Both ran really good in their ski racing days. Cool boats

Augie, Is that "Green Go!"? My buddies family Rick and Debbie Schenck on north bay dr. in Arrowhead used to own it back in the 90's. It was a great ski race boat.

Yup that's it. It's my uncle's boat he's friends with Rick and Debbie. He bought it in the early 90s and still has it.

Good afternoon!

Not mine but I couldn't help but grab a picture of Terry's boat this weekend.

If you know Schiadas, you'll know there aren't many of these floating around. ;)

This one has a small block with a TRS drive.

Terry told me his boat was #2 and that someone else owned #1. I can't remember if he said Lee owned one or someone else. Either way, Terry's boat looked pretty badass just sitting their. ;)

And mine should be on the river in August.

Nice 22'DC

It's kind of funny how the popularity of the Schiada 21' RC transcends all sizes and brands of boats.

Schiada has different names and abbreviations for all of its boats.

20SS is short for Super Sport, the 20' v-bottom hull either in a full cabin or with a well for an outboard
20ST is short for Sport Tunnel, the 20' tunnel bottom
21RC is short for River Cruiser, the 21' v-bottom
21RT is short for River Tunnel, the 21' tunnel bottom
22DC is short for Day Cruiser, the 22' v-bottom
22OB is short for Open Bow, 22' v-bottom open bow (I can't remember if this was specific to the whaler or if that had a different mark)
24WE is short for Weekender, the 24' v-bottom

There are a few more that I cannot think of off the top of my head, but all of these markings are actually part of the HIN embedded into the hull of the boat. I guess when there is something with a following everyone wants to associate with it. I have a scan of a price list from 1987. I think I'll ad it to the forum with old boat ads.

How about those prices...

It was always my understanding that there was only one 20ST ever built with an outdrive. It may be the second ever 20ST. There were several others built all however were outfitted with outboard motors. Lee has one his sister has one there have been several for sale here on this forum as well, but again all outboards. That certainly is a very cool and unique boat.

Thanks for clearing that up sir! I promise I will not call my 22 an "RC" any longer!!
