After the off road trip from LHC to Lake Alamo even though the Tundra was perform okay but I decided to spend extra few bucks to upgrade the suspension plus some additional off road equipment. Little history of my Tundra:
This is a 02 Tundra, I bought from a friend about 5 years ago. It has 243k miles when I bought it.
This is a list that I have done in the past and now I am going to make it a mid travel and add more body armor.
Roof rack
Front winch bumper with Tuffstuff 12.5k lbs winch.

Looking good. I would add a couple D-ring mounts to the rear bumper and possibly a flush backup light before painting.

The rear bumper is not finished yet, D-ring was made last night and the backup lights were arrived.
I am still working to relocate the receiver hitch mount to the bumper to increase the ground clearance.
Updated bumper

Wow looking good!
That camburg suspension should be a nice upgrade! I’m still amazed at how well your Toyota kept up on the Alamo ride!

Do you let Jefferson drive off road at all? I think It’s the best way for young people to learn how to drive and control a car.

I let him drive before and he kinds of nervous. Maybe I will let him drive more so he will get used to.

Update...
This is a summary of the carnage on the desert camping trip 2 weeks earlier:
Front diff carrier internal gear damaged.
IMG_1204.jpg

Broken rear driver lower shock mount.
IMG_1201.jpg

Lost the rear driver shock (ADS piggy back 3 weeks old) and broken rear driver ABS cable and parking brake.
IMG_1189.jpg

Ordered the front diff carrier from ebay on 113k Tundra same gear ratio. The part came from Minnesota so you know what to expect. I spent almost 2 days dipped in the vinegar and salt and it doesn't seem to help.
I ended up rust removal wheel on the grinder it works.
IMG_1216.jpg

Remove the diff carrier alone.
IMG_1210.jpg

And installing it alone with my 13 years is old boy help the jack and the strap, it is finally installed.
IMG_1218.jpg

IMG_1219.jpg

Few hours on the Friday late evening the front diff carrier installed and tested worked perfectly.

Wow Jimmy your truck looks fabulous! Really sucks to loose a brand new shock when the mounts go bad, but you won’t loose one now !

Did you check your upper shock mount also?

You have some awesome Fabractaor skills!

Hope to see you soon!

Thanks Doug, will see you soon either boating event or offroad!
The upper shocks mount still looks good. I think the reason I lost the rear shock because of the shock bottomed out. I supposed to use this ADS rear shock with Deaver leaf pack G57 but couldn't get time go down to OC to have them look at the truck for build the rear leaf pack. I finally gone down to Deaver yesterday to have them build me a medium leaf pack and should be done in about 4-6 weeks.

yeah I was gonna say the shock body looked a bit long, also did the front diff explode from gassing it in 4wd in reverse? seen that happen to another tundra they don't seem that strong in reverse for some reason

I’ve heard that reverse is your lowest ( like a granny ) gear but is also your weakest gear..... I don’t know that much about the modern transmission they are getting crazy 7-8 speeds electronic shift

I relocated the rear bottom shock mount up to increase the clearance from the rock so now I need to raise the upper shock mount to get more shock travel.

?? curious so I know whether to gas mine hard in reverse or not
Could be this is a weak point from gen 1 Tundra front diff also the boulder I was on is huge.

Time for removing the bed, cutting the sub frame and reinforced the sub frame and adding strength to the rear frame by welding the 1/4" plate to the frame channel. Then fab the new rear upper shock mount.

The engine is running little warm uphill ( Big bear trip) on the hot day with AC on. The engine temp did not increase when crawling 4low with AC on.
After researched and talked to few radiator shops they suspected the radiator blockage so I decided to replace the radiator with Champion full aluminum and lifetime warranty.

Not much of an update beside lower ball joint failure after passing the speed bump at the shopping center. This BJ made by Import Direct (O'Reilly), I replaced last year same time with lower control arm from 1A Auto.

After couple hard wheeling trips all the rubber bushing are bad. Since the LCA has lifetime warranty, they sent the replacement. I removed all rubber bushings and replaced with polyurethane bushings.

Since adding the glass fender, the old bumper won't line up the fender line and I want a little more aggressive look and higher clearance, new bumper is needed.
The old bumper made out of 1/4" mild steel winch mount and 3/16" plate and weighted 110 lbs, the new bumper will be 3/16" mild steel winch mount and 1/8" chromoly plate.
Some update on the winch mount and bumper shape.

During summer I was busy with river camping trip, I got new toy Kawasaki 310 SE (310 HP supercharged) so not much time to work on my truck. Jefferson (my son) who is riding the Yamaha VX cruiser now.
We spent most of the river time in Lake Havasu.

IMG_2641.jpg

Jefferson, me and Nancy are also finished boat safety class at lake Elsinore so we are good to go in term of boating card.
