Hey Guys,

Need some advice on charging my daily driver. I have a 30amp on the side of my house for my RV. Can I get an adapter to be able to charge the car? I know I need 240v to get level 2. But until then, would that work out OK? This plug is closer to my front yard so it would work out nicely if so. Thanks

Would this work?

With this?

My brother did something like that for his Volt. He had to do something either on the car or the charger to get it to work. I don't know about long term, or charging time either. He did it as a temp for a few weeks when he was redoing his electrical in his older home, and wasn't driving near as much at the time.

I put those in at my house. It can be used to do a lot of things. Welder, Plasma cutter, charge your car, etc. It is a nema plug as stated witch is basically the plug format three blade with a big ground as shown. They sell the parts at HD if you are feeling like a do it your selfer but I would get an electrician to run all of the in wall Romex and breakers in panel if you are not 100% on what you are doing. It is basically I ran an 220 50AMP breaker at my place. It works great for my miller auto 210. Obviously you are not welding and charging at the same time but hey there is a give and take. Once you put this in you will wonder how you lived without it.

Car will charge way faster as well.

Sorry if I mis understood question. If you already have outlet - I would make a pigtail converter instead of a wall mount one off of amazon. That way you will know the gauge of wire and components.

A 30 amp RV outlet has only one leg of 110-120 volt ac.
If you need 220 volt to charge your car, the rv outlet will not supply 220 volts.

Here’s a secret:
The OEM charger supports Level 2, and will charge your car quite fast (~6 hours from flat battery) with a simple adapter.

I bought it from a guy on Etsy, and sold it for what I bought it for. You can also make one for very little money.

Edit:
Here’s one on EBay

He will make it any type of 220 plug you need to fit into your outlet [emoji106]

I have the adapter for my 50 amp garage plug. The standard charger that came with my car plugs into that. Charges it much quicker then using a standard household outlet.
