HELLLLL YEAH! Congrats. You and my parents will be neighbors. Not like saying you'll be neighbors in Los Angeles or OC, because in BC, everyone is neighbors. hahaha!

Super cool. Good luck and keep us posted. Did you buy a home? What area of town are you in?

Congrats.

We’ve talked more and more and it’s become a daily evening talk. Just a lot of pieces to the puzzle to get worked out.

You'll miss the weather.

BC weather is awesome. There are 1.5 months out of the year that are really hot, other than that, it's heaven most of the time. Definitely having a pool is great though. I don't like going in the pool unless it's super hot anyways. Most places I would live in Cali are always too cold for a pool (Beach areas or Bishop).

Congrats. I’m in Henderson. Just down the highway from Boulder City. You will love it there.

Congratulations! Welcome to the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave

Based on my experiences I hope your U-Haul truck makes it to your destination without breaking down

Just spoke with a coworker who lives in Idaho. He said the growth there is insane and its ALL Californians. Conservative Middle class families with jobs and skills.

Ca may just run out of tax dollars to hand out to foreign invaders here quicker than anticipated....

We are getting closer. Wife flew down on Monday to look at a place. Offer will go in today. It will still be a year or two before we will be down there most of the time. Hot months will still be spent in Delta.

You'll miss the weather.
After being in Az for 9 months, whenever I go to Ca the weather sucks. Cold, overcast, and cloudy. Playing with asphalt today in 104 temp in Phoenix and can't get enough of it. I do have long sleeves and a shade brim on my hardhat. Also have drank about 2 gallons of water. Lol

Are you changing companies or jobs or is the move separate.

Same industry. Most likely a different company. I work for the Elevator constructors union so my pay and benefits will remain the same.

Making the move then finding work?

Been here 13 years now and have always said if Ca. adopted some of the Az highway rules would probably ease some traffic. Like having the diamond lane open to single drivers after hours, weekends especially. Good luck with the move and new digs Riley.

View attachment 779484 About half way. Wife is doing great towing.

What kind of mileage you seeing with that truck?

I’m looking at a 26’ to make my move from storage units near Sacramento to Havi.

It’s a thousand dollars cheaper to round trip it (4 day estimate, 1350 miles RT) than drop off in Havi.
Or it’s $500 cheaper to one way and drop in Vegas.
My plan is round trip it, then pull the boat down with my Tahoe that will be in Sac.
But all that depends on fuel costs.

I love that little town. Wife's sister, adult nieces and nephews live out there. It really has that old town Americana feel. When I was there I didn't see in gang bangers, taggers, vagrants, problems, etc. I'm sure, just like every city there's issues but geez it seemed like a really nice place to live. Right down the road from a bitchen lake too. Congrats!

Regarding the flood gates open to leave Ca. My tax guy did his own little survey. He does taxes for civil servants and does about 3500 returns each tax season. He pooled 500 or so of his clients and asked them - A) Do you 100% plan to leave Ca upon retirement B) 100% plan on staying C) Undecided. Roughly 12 said they planned on staying and 12ish were undecided. Every single other one said they were leaving. I think it's worse than the media leads on (shocking, I know).

Run the numbers. Start with maybe 10MPG and go down from there to see how it works out

Check into Penske. Similar price, but diesel.
