Impressive for sure! but, she won't have that much time to run up when kicking a field goal.

I wonder if an NFL kicker could hit that with a long run like that.
Hitting those narrow uprights is definitely impressive.
A lot, if not all NFL kickers, can boot it accurately from 50 plus using a two step approach. She is 6 yards back running, like a kick off. A lot of NFL kickers can float the ball 70 plus yards on a running approach, again kick off. Still impressive, I sure couldn't do what she is doing.I wonder if an NFL kicker could hit that with a long run like that.

Bingo. Impressive for sure, but you cant take 5-6 steps before hand.Impressive for sure! but, she won't have that much time to run up when kicking a field goal.
If she ran down field on a kick off that could get ugly if she got caught. Interesting what the fan base would think? I could imagine a lot of peeps taking sympathy & a lot saying ohh well, she wanted it. Played, coached high school & JC ball...the speed & power at the NFL level is amazing & violent.Great point.. Different kick with a short drop and stands full of screaming fans. Not to mention the hype around it would be insane. She won’t have issues getting hurt kicking field goals. Running down after a kickoff is another story. There’s tough for a women’s soccer player and there’s NFL tough.

Watch field goal kickers in pre-game.
They hit long shots all the time...doing it in a game is a whole different animal.
You also have to consider the trajectory off her foot.
It has to clear 6’5” players with 36” vertical leaping ability.

I would think the current fan base would be 50/50. There would definitely be a short term pick up in a couple demographics. I’d hate to be the first player to level her. We sat in the first row at a Seahawk game last year. I’ve been to plenty of games and watch NFL every weekend. I was blown away how big and athletic they were.
The straight on kickers back in the day were often lineman and linebackers. Few specialists until guys like Jan Stenerud and the Gogolak bros came along. The beginning of the soccer influence and non US born players. So who was the last tough place kicker? George Blanda?
Ok, so maybe Luck and Gronk aren’t tough.. Kinda the opposite.Lol. You said NFL tough......[emoji39][emoji202]

^^^ This. When I was a season ticket holder, we would get there early and watch the pre-game warm ups. The long field goals made with nobody running at them was impressive. They did not perform the same during the games.
There isn't anything keeping women from playing football in the NCAA expect performance and Division 1A football programs do not net the school any expenses. Instead they bring in millions for them and actually tend to help fund the womens sports that do not have nearly the revenue. The PR for the first team to hire and play a female will be huge......
I think there might also be some title nine implications in the long term. Football has always been considered a men's sport. This would definitively break that notion, this could drive a huge change in funding of college sports as football is an incredibly expensive sport to run on campus.
I was a holder in high school on my team (only position I was actually good at and started at. Lol!), our kicker would routinely hit from 65 to 70 yards in practice. Actually hit a 60 yarder in full practice with a defensive rush and all. 55 yards with a long run up and no rush is pretty damn easy for anybody that can actually kick a football (which I know is a relatively small portion of the population). Please ... while it’s impressive that she may be on an extremely small list of females in the world who could make that kick, 90%+ college kickers and even some high school kickers make those kicks routinely with the standard 2-3 yard approach . Another stupid PR stunt
The varsity kicker when I was in High School kicked 50 plus yard FG all the time he kicked a best of 56 yard FG in his senior year. Last year was the first time in 23 years that a kicker at Royal hit the 56 yard for the win and he had some leftover, he is a senior this year. There isn't anything keeping women from playing football in the NCAA expect performance and Division 1A football programs do not net the school any expenses. I think I recall you're a bit older than me but what year did you graduate? We played Royal in some passing league tournaments when I played at Burroughs. The varsity kicker when I was in High School kicked 50 plus yard FG all the time he kicked a best of 56 yard FG in his senior year. Ahh... I thought we were closer in age for some reason. I was '04. We were division 3 also but we had to be with Hart and Canyon and Saugus and all.95 we were division 3 at that time

They'll try her out and get some news time, then pass on her.Just read an article on ESPN that apparently a couple NFL teams have contacted her about possibly playing for them. Apparently she is gonna see if she still has the power and accuracy with a 2 step approach and if so, may persue it for the 2020 season. Sounds like she'll be someone's marketing gimic and at 37 right now, will likely only be able to perform for a couple years at best.

They will probably try her out and let her kick in a few preseason games. If she actually makes a couple MAYBE keep her on as a back-up for PR.They'll try her out and get some news time, then pass on her.
From the video I don't see any thing special over hundreds of young "guys" with stronger legs and lots less fanfare......
With me.Where will she shower?
Nope. Roster spots are far too valuable to keep a player for PR purposes. If any team brings her in for a tryout it's just to create a buzz. They will probably try her out and let her kick in a few preseason games. If she actually makes a couple MAYBE keep her on as a back-up for PR.

It's not uncommon for teams to carry 2 kickers. Some have either a back-up or 1 field goal kicker and 1 kickoff kicker. So if she can hit a 45 to 50 yarder then yeah, I can see a team doing soWith me.

It’s actually extremely rare to keep a “backup” kicker . Teams can only have so many active players. The only teams in history that have ever kept a 2nd placekicker have done so temporarily replace somebody injured . Some teams have kept a kickoff man at times but again not long term . Teams will line up to have the first female attempt a kick but it will be in the preseason and as soon as the kick is made or missed she will be gone by August . The sad thing is her roster spot in camp will come at the expense of another free agent football player trying to get into the league .
It's really not that uncommon. They may not carry 2 for an entire season but again, not uncommon. I can't remember who it was, (I wana say Janikowski?) but there was a high profile kicker last year that didn't kickoff, only did field goals. The backup placekicker is the punter.
The backup punter is the placekicker.
