Finally getting caught up after the rdp regatta, so I’m a little late on this.

That said as it comes to life I’ll be going down to Nordic for updates in the build!

Nordic has finished tooling their latest model which is the little brother to the 355! Introducing the new 31 true tunnel!

From the side profile you can see the boat has a long and low profile look, but it still maintains a decent amount of freeboard at the transom!

It’s important to note that while the transom is flat in this pic, there is actually a step down just like the 355, so the windshield register will continue to its completion.

The reason it’s not on here is it needs to be put on after in order for the mold to release.

The shape of the boat will actually look like this, offering a step down making ingress and egress a lot easier. This also completes the windshield register which finishes off the boat.

The boat features a twin step bottom that is different than a lot of others being the steps are a good distance apart from each other.

The flat deck in the back is an ingenious little hang out area for when you are floating or docked. A feature that was introduced on the 355

Thane texted me a couple pics of it, but for some reason a ton of text messages just straight "vanished" off of my phone?

With the 35 dead in the water bow up attitude which bugs me I wonder how this 31 will look 400,s or 450,s hanging on it , cant compare apples to apples pod no pod the DCB,s , Eliminator seem to have a better attitude or look sitting , When I had my 28ss built I asked Thane if they were going to build a 30 or 32 I would be interested . Any idea on the beam of this one ?

yes they are building them still or yes they are not building them still?
Nordic will build as many 35's as you would like, he was referring to the way it sits in the water when its at rest. The 35 is very much alive and the absolute best cat I've ever driven hands down. Can't wait to drive the 31!!!!!!

Beam is listed above at 9’6” so nonwide load problems etc.

Generally speaking a center pod boat of the same length will have a flatter attitude st rest because the tunnels are shallower and there is a center pod, both add flotation.

Beam at 9'6" is a wide load is it not? 8'6" is legal limit to my knowledge.

That is a very deep tunnel on a 31...no issues rolling through some big water with this hull. Same tunnel dimensions as the 35? Looks like they just lopped off a bit from the 35.

Certainly looks like the older 40' Skater was cut down to a 35' Nordic and now it's a 31' Nordic. The tunnel dimensions look very similar. I know several manufacturers have "borrowed" ideas from other manufacturers. It will be interesting to see how this boat runs & rides.
Congrats to Nordic for pushing the performance boat industry & building new boats.

just so everyone knows technically anything over 8.6 wide is oversize but most cops will not bother you at that size

Lol if you saw in person how wide the sponsons are and how narrow the tunnel is you’d be retracting all of that. :D

I'm no expert & I truly don't care to take measurements. I rode in the 35 Nordic for the entire 120+ miles of the Big Cat poker run in August. It's a wave crushing beast. It rides & turns exactly like a Skater. I have absolutely no idea if anything on the Nordic is the same as a Skater & truly don't care. I appreciate that Nordic is building some badass boats. I also appreciate that I am entitled to MY opinion. I'm not on anyone's payroll nor do I have to answer to sponsors. I'm not retracting anything.

May want to read Dave's post over again with a smile on your face which is probably the way Dave intended it to be

In Arizona you can get an Annual watercraft wide load permit. Its pretty cheap... Must display wide load banner and no CDL is required.

Of course if you have a 20 year old 1 ton, you are exempt from load ratings and width restrictions...

So it’s ok to say that Thane’s tooling is actually someone else’s work, and if I question it (because it’s blatantly not) than it’s because I answer to sponsors or am on someone’s payroll? Lol

What kinda pretzel logic is that?

Just my opinion the 35 looks very similar to the old school 40 Skater. My opinion doesn't mean anything. I was very thankful to ride on the wave crushing 35 Nordic for the Big Cat, it was a blast.

Early version Skater narrow deep tunnel wide pods or sponson vs later wide tunnel [or wide body] narrow pod or sponson .

The only boat I can think of that kinda fits that description is a 28 skater?

Not the greatest pic but this is a 2000 model year 40' Skater.
I believe there was a time when Nordic was using the Skater bottom for their 43' cat also but I certainly could be wrong.

They used the skater bottom for the 43. That said I don’t believe the 35 nor the 31 share similarities (other than the obvious) on the bottoms. I can run up there this week and check for ya as they have all three models on site.

Absolutely no reason to check for me. Wasn't calling anyone out nor bashing on Nordic. I love that Nordic is building new models, that's great for all performance boaters. Wish I could afford the big cat cruiser now with twin outboards.

Man this boat is going to be Slick!!! Can’t wait to see the rest of the pictures for this build! I heard the 31 feet does not include the wings off the back, I could be mistaken though?

When’s the first one coming out and where are they pricing it? @Bgsandfan , is this why you’re selling the dune car? :)

I love the profile of this boat! I'm excited to see it completed. It is really cool that Nordic is building these new models!

Should be a fantastic boat. I'd absofrickunlutely LOVE to put my 308 Skater beside this 31 Nordic and see how different they are. I'd also LOVE to run my old 2008 308 Skater side by side with this 31 Nordic just to see the difference. I'm sure my boat with 300XS will be much slower on the top end but will kill a 31 Nordic with 400R's up to 90+ mph or more.

It looks absolutely FANTASTIC!! I'm very jealous of all the room in the cockpit & the rear seating area behind where the hatch would be is brilliant. Congrats to Nordic & your friend. Curious why 400s instead of 450s?
