I ran into a Buddy that’s a CHP officer Sunday, and he told me that the local Emergency Services that have been available on Desert Center in the past, have been shifted to 29 Palms. That means that all 911 response times, could take up to 2 plus hours for any Accidents, Medical or any Emergencies. Please slow down and take your time out there, so we can all enjoy the Lake/River With our Families!!!

Wherever it’s coming is not going to be fast enough. Please drive safe on DS, it’s a treacherous road that has already taken enough life’s.

Well done again California ! I guess there is just not enough tax money to keep up . Smh
He said that were available not stationed . I take that to mean there was probably a geographical area a crew would be responsible for that have now been reallocated .

Station 49 could have been volunteer like 46 and 47 up river from Blythe. I have been on calls in the Desert Center area when 45 from the Blythe Airport was the first responding. If it is real bad and they need help, the station at Chuckawalla State Prison assists Calif. Dept. of Forestry .

You will be waiting even longer for an ambulance I use to work for Palm Springs amr and if your lucky the closes ambulances will go come from Indio and the other one will come from Blythe but I use to smoke them to calls in desert center by 20 mins when we would drive from Indio

Just asked my Buddy who is Cal Fire and he worked that area for years says that is not true. Riverside County will be there from San Bernadino county line to Rice Road. The area is huge so they always send the closest Rig to the scene and always a chopper is sent out.

5-6 years ago we came upon a girl who flipped her car half way down rice road. Drunk as a skunk. Took over 1.5 hours for anyone to show up.

This is reality. When I worked in Vegas for an ambulance sometimes we were 18-19 mins away, in a CITY!

I used to get real bad anxiety when I was younger about driving across desolate areas and flying commercial, because of response times in my head. I'm sure this was from working on a rig for years. Like panic attack anxiety. As I've gotten older, oddly enough I dont care anymore and SEEK to be out in middle of nowhere! LOL...very odd.

I think he got a little confused, maybe. Desert Center and 29 Palms are 2 different Counties. San Bernardino County closed the station (45) in Wonder Valley and relocated its personnel to 29 Palms. But this Happened several years ago. It was because of potable water issues.
Everyone gets used to having Fire and EMS services quickly, but these outlying areas pose serious risk to anyone who experience a potential life threatening issue. I’ve worked in Needles before and responded to Kelbaker road area for serious accidents.

Even in LA levels can get low. When I was working in Carson we got a call into 77's Pyramid Lake Rd. at the boat ramp, yes at the time we were the closest, even LAFD was at critical levels but they were able to break a unit loose and send them, our response lasted approx 3 minutes before we were cancelled. Notes said prop strike.

Apparently the Emergency Response Team (San Bernardino County) that had covered the Vidal Junction to Hwy 10 area, has been reassigned out to the new location out near the new Casino on the California side of the Lake.

Not confused, it come from a reliable source... They had a call out there just recently that took over 2 hours for EMT’s to respond. I’m not here to debate any logistics or protocol because I have no clue to any of it. I’m just sharing Life Saving information to the boating community, that I recently received from a CHP officer.

Bottom line, slow the f... down on Rice Road and spread the word. Our families and friends use this road and too many are driving either speeding, drinking or lacking sleep. Desert Center is the short cut to Parker and Havasu but the most dangerous route. It's crazy out there....

Not true. Station 17 in Big River covers all the way to the county line on Rice road. It’s a PCF station (paid call firefighter). It’s not a full time staffed station. Station 18 in Havasu Landing is actually the personnel that was moved from Wonder Valley several years ago, hence the fact that it’s only a 2 man crew. It’s all a shell game due to funding.
