As of right now only the worst cases are being tested. That mortality rare will drop drastically once testing is more widespread. That is common on all epidemic/pandemic situations.H1N1 had a mortality rate of .02%. Influenza is .1%. This shit is hovering above 3%, a mortality rate 150 times that of H1N1.
That seems to be the basis for concern by the government in wanting to limit spread. That combined with limited testing ability in America compared to other countries where testing is widely available.
This chart is also something that is being taken into consideration by public health officials.
No reason to panic, but it seems rational to implement some caution.

Both of those countries have pretty damn shitty healthcare systems (obviously Italy's is better than Iran, but still nowhere near great outside of major cities). I'd be more concerned if other 1st world countries with good healthcare systems are experiencing these huge death rates.ABC news was showing mass burial pits in Iran. Couldn’t find a current video link but it’s massive. They went into the morgues with hidden cameras it’s way deadlier than reported.
italy getting hit hard too.
One take suggested that both populations are heavy smokers and that exasperates it.
ABC finally suggested China is lying about how it’s effecting them.
Remembered they jailed Drs that revealed it to the world.
China may be more pre dialed in and ready for something like this thus squashing quicker.

This was at 630 this morning when I went to go buy some tri tip to smoke. I walkeed back out and went to a top secret location. In hindsight I probably spent as much time at the meat marketLooks like my Stater bro’s did this morning when I went. Crazy.

The mortality rate was 2.2% as of yesterday, here in the USA.. and that is only for confirmed cases.
They open at 6, over heard a lady saying she got there at 510 and there was already 10 people in line. Our local staters had a line of 50+ waiting to get in at opening.
I just got one ,45/70 Henry I think you need one
What's the story with this? Just started watching on ESPN and it says I'm watching the lightweight main event and it's only on for an hour. Then I look at my calendar and it says the UFC fights are from 5 to 8. What happened to the prelims? Or did they change the time?UFC is weird without an audience.

^^^ As of yesterday the death rate in the U.S. was about .7%. Like you stated, once more are diagnosed the real death rate will become more clear.
The problem is we don’t know the real death rate.
The US is currently only testing a few thousand people a day. The testing facilities are completely overrun and for every person tested several people are being turned away because we lack the resources to test everyone.
ER’s and hospitals are already spread thin this time of year because of influenza. There’s a very good chance many people are walking into ER’s with the Coronavirus and being treated for flu related pneumonia, the ones that die are reported as flu related because they’re not being tested for Coronavirus.
The reported infection rate is insanely false. Children who get infected show little symptoms and most won’t be tested. Countless healthy adults will have very light symptoms and brush them off as a cold and never get tested. These same children and their adult parents will continue to infect people and not take this thing seriously.
Within a week our hospitals will be completely overrun with sick people. These sick people will need intensive care and it won’t be available. Doctors will soon be forced to decide which patients they should treat and which patients they will need to let die because they won’t have the resources to treat every critically ill person.

If we had the same testing ability as other countries in the world we might be able to prove out more accurate mortality rates and public health officials would have a greater scientific basis to make educated and informed recommendations.
But given America’s inexplicable inability to test even at a very small fraction of other countries, greater precaution unfortunately seems prudent.
All of the property’s owned by them are closed.

My son works for 29 plans school district. Schools shut down but they will still feed to kids that need it. So no classes but kids will get together anyway to eat.

Anyone else here get a very bad "cold" in January/February? Me and everyone I know had it, tough to kick, put some people in bed and reoccurred. No one was being tested for beer virus. This shit's been around for a lot longer than people know.
