It’s been a Crazy 10 Days just try to navigate thru these difficult times in Business ... I can’t image how it feels to lose your job, then wonder how you gonna support your family. Maybe someone has some employment ideas to help these people.

They need to pull themselves up by their boot straps and correct whats wrong. if they couldn't afford to survive during a global pandemic they shouldn't have had kids or been born. there is no way i want my hard earned $$ supportings these deadbeats who don't work hard enough to make a living when there is no work. if they were any good and not so lazy they wouldn't be in this situation in the first place...

Settle down and put that hard on away. You sound desperate not to let a good crisis go to waste.

I don't know you so I have to ask, what's wrong with you? That's the best you can come up with as the world, the country and you and your family face a pandemic of historic proportions?! You should be ashamed of yourself for your lack of compassion and sensitivity to what people are dealing with now and in the weeks to come.

Had a friend lose a teaching job, rehired within a few days for remote learning. Opportunity jobs. Stimulus and unemployment should help those that are not in a good position now...hopefully a lesson learned.

Those that are willing, will always find something. It may not be what you want, but something to make some money. I'll always find something for someone if they need it, and will make an effort. I cannot pay enough to suit some's needs. Although, if someone is willing to get dirty, or sweat a little, I'll always try and make sure them and their family can eat.

We will see what happens in the comming weeks and months.

Amazon, USPS, grocery stores, to name a few, are looking to fill 100s of thousands of jobs.

Your a douche squeeze but some of the things you said in your post is the simple truth hate me for saying it but the truth hurts!

It sucks for the hard working taxpayer that's laid off hopefully the warm weather coming will slow it down here in the southwest. For some some who like to work and succeed it does suck.....

I knew a person that would talk like this and one day his 5 year old got leukemia and required major $$ for special treatment. He lost his job and all savings over 2 years. The boy was being treated at city oh hope for years. No charge. He changed his look on life.

Call it whatever you want - it was insensitive at best especially now. And you're still a dick.

I keep saying hope the $ get to the people hurt not me retired.

Apparently the $ distribution (checks) will be based on last year's tax filing and individual earnings or if filing as a couple then combined earnings. I/we don't expect to get any $ which we're OK with

They normally determine that (and crown the champion) at the “salacious seven” annual hot tub gala and jamboree held at Grads house...but I think they might have postponed it to to the virus?

I sent my employee home. Does he live pay check to pay check? Yes he does like many others. A little about him. He's a hard working sumbitch and 100% good dude. His wife needs a liver transplant that doesn't look like will happen in time. He spends every waking moment taking care of her or at work. Zero fun time for him. I have no idea how he doesn't crack. The medical expenses eats up every cent he earns. He misses a lot of work due to it too. I told myself I'm not going to ever let him go because he's taking care of his dying wife to the end.
So why did I send him home? If he is out and about and brings that virus home she's a goner. I suggested and he reluctantly agreed it would be best to stay at home and get on un-employment like everyone else in the US.

So to Squeezer, this guy is not a bum. I hope you never end up in a situation that is out of your control like that.

My roommate is out of work too. She works at Floyd's barbershop in HB and they shut down. Was sent a notice yesterday saying they are extending the shut down. So if any of y'all need a nice haircut she'll do house calls. Also really good at colors and what not for the ladies.

Some will make more on unemployment with the fed kicking in money than they make working right now. There’s also the fact that if someone has “symptoms “ they get 80 hours/10 days paid sick leave, whether they had that time or not. I hope things get back to “normal” quick.

All true...

But more of a dick than the people who think kids should go hungry because their parents should have made better choices.

No more of a dock than the people think some should have healthcare and some shouldn’t.

The list is long and distinguished...

I had to furlough 66 people Monday, absolutely horrible feeling. My problem with the shutdown orders is that they are unevenly applied. I understand non essential retail items, but big box retail is selling the very items that local small business is ordered to close because of designation. I could at least understand if Walmart, Sams, Target, and others were not allowed to retail these items. The argument that its not feasible to close a sub department in a business doesn't seem to be a problem in relation to my company. My service, parts, and bodyshop are considered essential, but have to close sales. On Sundays in my state liquor is roped off until noon, it sure seems they could apply these orders evenly.

This is the perfect example of why I want stronger safety nets and universal healthcare. Your employee is a hard working contributor to society and the economy. Yet medical bills guarantee he will never have a chance at anything close to financial security let alone independence.Laying him off in this situation is likely your only option. No fault of yours or his. Let’s hope UI and the enhanced measures being implemented now are enough for his family.

And for the record I have been in that sort of situation... That’s what turned me from a Republican to a Democratic Socialist.

How in the F' does one define "Democratic Socialist"?
You are, or you aren't...
Believe in democracy, or you don't...
I believe it is only communism that crams things down the throats of the people...
Totalitarianism maybe...

Sure, some people may need help. Not everyone's situation is the same though.

We deal with business owners on a daily basis and the stress level they are at is unbelievable. Have been trying to convey to our team to not let them get to you personally. Tough times. I’m not the same person I was a few weeks ago, I find myself being angry, mainly because I have no control of the situation. I try and reason with myself that I do have control of the outcome.

(Read this... REALLY READ IT!!!... Then list what you believe is wrong with it.)

Ever since Bernie Sanders announced his candidacy, much attention has been focused on the fact he calls himself a democratic socialist. Socialist, in the American lexicon, has a negative connotation, mainly because of common misunderstandings.

Sanders himself has tried many times to explain the difference between “socialism” and “democratic socialism,” but the right still seems hung up on misrepresenting his views and exploiting people’s fears. America has a rich socialist history many people are unaware of, but still fear the “S” word and picture evil dictators and red flags.

To quell any fears and to put a great deal of misinformation to rest, here are five things that democratic socialism is not.

1. Democratic Socialism Is Not Marxism

When Sanders spoke at the Georgetown University, he said clearly that he is NOT in favor of “workers owning the means of production,” which is one of the most important aspects of Marxism. Marxism would replace the corporate ownership of business and would hand the companies to the workers to manage and control. This eliminates the capitalist structure, something democratic socialism does not do.

2. It Is Not Communism

In Karl Marx’s writing, he often used the terms “socialism” and “communism” interchangeably. Many still do today in the Marxist movements, but outside of that, most people see Communism as the political structure of the (now-separated) USSR and China. Marxist communism is impossible to enact wholely, so these regimes did not represent true Marxism. Even so, they are much closer to Marxist communism than to democratic socialism.

3. It Is Not A Replacement For Capitalism

True socialism would replace the capitalist economy we live in now and replace it fully with a socialist one. While this is the dream of Marxists and socialists everywhere, this is not the plan under democratic socialism. Democratic socialism would instead put more restrictions on corporations and owners. This would include limitations on how much more money a CEO can make compared to their employees, and granting employees more rights and higher minimum wage.

4. It Is Not The Same As Regular Socialism

Democratic socialists have historically rejected the belief that the economy should be centrally planned (a centrally-planned economy is a socialist keystone belief). Instead, democratic socialism believes that some parts of society may be better if they are democratically planned: mass transit, medical care, minimum wage, etc. Democratic socialism still believes the capitalist market is best for consumer goods and services.

5. It Is Not Outside The Democratic Party

When Sanders announced he was running for President, he switched his party from Independent to Democrat, and many wondered why a socialist would run as a Democrat. Yet, what many didn’t understand was that Democratic Socialism is not a party in itself and is an ideology that actually exists inside the Democratic Party.

Democratic socialists only hope to strengthen the party by improving upon issues the nation faces today such as healthcare, college tuition, and a strengthened social safety net.

I gave my guy 2 weeks off with pay just so i didn’t have to work around anyone. Once he comes back I’m taking 2 weeks off.
I’ve got plenty of work but am trying to avoid larger jobs where the employees can’t understand distance.

I read it and it's clear as mud because you're talking about Sanders and you tell us "5 things democratic socialism is not" (who cares) and then, at the end, you say this nonsense: "Democratic socialists only hope to strengthen the party by improving upon issues the nation faces today such as healthcare, college tuition, and a strengthened social safety net."

I'm a conservative and I hope to improve "upon issues the nation faces today such as healthcare, college tuition, and a strengthened social safety net." And reduce regulations and taxes (federal and state) and reduce the government's interference in our lives and use of our lands. And reverse what the liberals have been doing to our 2A rights. The list goes on and on.

You're a liberal idealist using a different term that doesn't confuse any of us conservatives. What you want your democratic party to do will be further bastardized by them because most of them are mentally ill and incompetent to be in office.
