Bought the boy a little cheapo amazon boat it’s a blast. Now i want one for me. Looking at the ProBoats 17” Miss Geico for 129$ rtr with battery or (yes big spread) the Traxxas M41 which is 479$ then i gotta go get Lipo’s and charger another 200$.

So My curiosity is does anyone have any experience with either? One is 17” long other is 40” long so there’s a huge difference, buy that’s what I’ve kinda narrowed to just based on reviews. Anyone have another option for fun and easy, as well able to charge while out on the boat?

I considered the Traxxas but ended up going with the 36” Miss Geico. It’s a twin motor setup RTR, but you will need batteries and a charger. It’s a few bucks more than the Traxxas too.

I ran it a few weeks ago and the thing was a blast! Very quick right out of the box, and depending on which battery set up we go with, you can get even more speed. I’m running two 4s lipos. Once the props are balanced and sharpened I’m sure I can get a little more speed out of it too. It’s plenty fast for me though.

You have two 4s or two 2s making a 4s? With twin 4s should be capable of 60-65 that’s insane fast.

If you get the smaller one, you'll get the bigger one later. I don't have a boat yet, but I've got two cars, eight helicopters and one drone.
I ideally wanted the proboat 24 as it seems best of both worlds.

I started out with the smaller helicopters and just couldn't see them when they got far away. I'm thinking it would be the same with a boat.

I have two 4s batteries total....one battery for each motor/speed controller.

They give you a harness (I had to remove mine) so that you can series/parallel batteries for different setup combos. Ultimately, you can run 6s to each motor/speed control for top speed. I figured 4s to each was a good midpoint for speed and runtime.

Check out this link from Proboat regarding battery setup as it was helpful.

The boats are cool, but I went and did something stupid recently and bought this Traxxas K5 rock crawler. Cost was around $500 then add 2 batteries and a charger and it's up to around $750 and my Amazon shopping cart has another $400 in it for upgrades but not ready to hit the buy button just yet. I can see this hole getting deeper. :)

That is so funny, I got my boys the Venom RC boats off Amazon and was just looking to pick up that Geico boat for myself. Seems like a decent deal for what it is. Not ready to step up to the Traxxas just yet.

I sooooo wanted to buy that one too. It’s bad ass.

Instead I bought an Axial SCX10ii kit and built it myself. I did it up to look like my own Chevy 2500....even down to the Fuel wheels and BFG All-Terrains:cool:

Now I’m just waiting on USPS to deliver the trailer (triple axle of course) I bought for my Miss Geico.

The struggle is real...

Son just got the traxxas Max, holly shit! He has the slash but loves this beast! I have the Lucas boat. I would do traxxas now that they have a cat. The Lucas is fun and fast. But I hate putting tape over top hatch when changing out batteries. I believe the traxxas latches, at least in the V

Don't get the smaller Geico. I have one and it worked for a little while but was slow. And broke. I have another Pro Boat Impulse that is cool. But I also ended up having issues with. That's why its called a hobby I guess!!! LOL I would go with Traxxas. Reliable and part are always available.

Will do 📸

The trailer is from a guy named Todd Cormier. He’s out of Louisiana. He goes by Cormier RC Trailers. I don’t have Facebook but he does, and you can browse his pictures there. There’s also some YouTube videos of his trailers. Believe it or not they’re made of wood and painted with automotive enamel.

If you want real scale trailers and RC car parts, check out RC4wd.com. It’s mind blowing the cool stuff they have. That’s where I got my Fuel wheels and BFGs.

I’ve got the M41 it’s pretty damn fast. Pretty indestructible too, my FIL rolled it over pretty hard once. Just flipped it back over and good to go

I've looked at these things for years, yet have never taken the leap. I can't help feeling it's going to be another flash in the pan hobby. I'll enjoy it for a few outings then get quickly bored of going in circles, hell I get quickly bored watching the videos of them doing laps. Same reason I haven't bought a drone, a few camera opportunities then in the closet it will stay.
40 years ago I along with a buddy were into building and flying gliders. I found that extremely challenging and it was fun going to various mountains or ocean cliffs and flying. Got harder to find places nearby to fly as more homes got built, then the collection of gliders and parts burned, that ended that.

So how do you guys keep it entertaining ? Just keep throwing dollars into constant upgrades and going faster ?

When I had an RC boat, proboat 55 Shockwave with zenoah engine I tried bringing it along on the real boat. A pain in the ass. After that I just separated time for the 2 boats. Real boat for the day and just carry the rc boat to the shore and drive it in the evenings. Even though it's an rc boat, it's still a fucking boat... the engine failed. Shelved it for years then threw it in the trash. If I do it again I'll just get an electric one. I had more fun and almost got arrested with one of those $30 electric walmart rc boats than the shockwave or nitro v.

almost Arrested ? you really should explain that for the inmates... :p
It was about 2006 when I was 17. A buddy and I had 2 stroke powered rc boats and we're looking for a body of water. Went over to Rancho Santa Margarita Lake and were racing them around. Security walked up laughing and said sweet boats but not allowed here. To loud and we can't chase the birds. Next day we are itching get the rc boats out. We go to walmart and get some $30 boats and AA batteries. Back to RSM lake and driving the boats. Slow and quiet. 20 minutes later cops show up and pretty much throw the book at us. As I drive my boat in, it goes under and cop is about to loose it. I kept on the throttle and it hit the sea wall. I made the remark it's a submarine now and it should be okay to drive since its under water driving. Cop lost it. I grab the boat out of the water and we got escorted to our trucks, information taken, then escorted out of the community. Nothing ever happened afterwards.

So better late than never, just today snagged a brand new Traxxas M41, two 3s battery’s and the new EZ peak live dual charger. Any tips on must have updates?
Thinking midweek in the gorge will be a blast.

Be fun passing up Dave on his toon.:p
What is that one? Looks like it scoots. Definitely gotta be sure i love it first but looking like only option is multiple battery or a bad ass inverter to be able to play for long out there. And nearly 100$ a battery sucks.

Volantex rc SR80 pro
I ended with 2 of them with a killer deal
It's 14.8 volt but you can use 2 of the 7.4 volt so batteries aren't very expensive
They said 2 7.4 volts aren't the way to go but it's been the fastest. 4500 mah and 100c. $25 each for batteries
Cool thing is if you roll it it just self rights

Check these out if you want a low budget quick boat. My son has one and it's cool.

That’s a pretty cool set up. Been looking at the Blast for my boy, but really think i need something with a joy stick controller vs the gun style. He does great with my drone, but his little boat as well RC truck he can’t drive worth a crap as he wants to hold and steer or hold and throttle. But the M41 is for me NOT him lol.

These Electric boats are so fast it's crazy.

My FIL used to traval around the country racing nitro RC boats in the 80's and 90's. The motor work he used to do was unreal and now these are RTRs are well beyond what the old timers world records were.
