Willamette River
Salem Oregon

Our oldest daughter attended George Fox in nearby Newberg. Beautiful part of Oregon, the Willamette Valley that we visited a couple times a year. Daughter went boating on the river but we do not get the opportunity.

Love that boat

Thanks man.. its definitely not "perfect" but she gets used. Shes no trailer queen..lol but it did only have like 53hrs on it when I bought it a couple years ago. Its set up really well and will hold it's own with alot of the smaller "bubble decks". We certainly enjoy it!

Some quiet time by myself.. I'll pick the wife up at the dock when she gets off work. Alot of rain the last few days so the water is really high!

Marine power 454. It's been rebuilt to a 496! Needs some cleaning under the hatch..

I had that exact same model. Did you experience high degree of lean in turns? Like 30 degrees of so...unsettling to say the least.
All I can say is I loved that thing. Bought it brand new ordered through a Fillmore, Ca dealer Caravelle had in '05. Laker Purple & Yellow flame graphics. As a first speed boat it was ideal. I made all my mistakes with it over 5 years. I trailered it to Powell, Mead, Havasu & Parker but since I live in Newport it was mostly a salt water near shore toy. I don't recall issues with cornering but boy was that thing a lower profile design .... I took massive swells over the bow several times. If I wasn't paying attention at sea the swell would slop right over that low profile bow. As long as I was under power he snout was high enough to take any waves. definitely not an off shore design but we took that sweet thing to Catalina many times at dawn while ocean was flat. The dock master at Two Harbors would just shake his head when we'd tell him we just buzzed over from the mainland on that thing. Great boat... that bow area with cushions filled in was huge!

You bought it from Jim at Carrera West boats. I almost pulled the trigger on a new boat from him but decided to wait until the next season and ended up getting laid off the following April.

Yep.. we are in Oregon. And this is our local river!
I sorta miss my old haunts up on the South Coast. Coquille and the Coos. Seeing that ramp in the vid, I think all ramps are the same on the rivers up there in Oregon. I know I have never been on that one but it sure looks like all the others. From my house I could use 5 ramps with the farthest away being 10 minutes and they were ALL free. Sometimes they were real crowded with like 4 rigs in the dirt or mud parking lot.

People have to pay to use a launch ramp?? Haha jk.

I grew up on the coos, coquille, umpqua, rouge.. we will probably be launching at myrtle tree on the coos sunday.. unless the ol lady wants to go crabbing.

🤣
My family runs HALLMARK fisheries in Charleston. So just off the docks or run the boat(not ours) out to the North Spit.

I have never boated on a river with trees on the shore like that. Is it harder to read the river with the trees reflecting off the water? Living the dream for sure.

At times the reflections mess with you, that's when you just hammer down and pick up your feet..lol naw, it's not too bad. Watching the banks is key just stick to the steep side. And just like always, watch the ripples and stay in the fast water..

Thats the guy! What a great dude he was.... he even delivered it to my place in Newport which is quite a way from Fillmore. That was 2005.... I spoke with off and on over the years. Just one of those super good boat sales folks. I met another guy who bought same make/ model from Jim and lives in Simi Valley. We brought our boats to one of the lakes up that way for a day together; maybe Castaic or Piru from memory. He and I are still buddies and he still has that Interceptor. I'll never forget the day he came down to Newport and I showed him what our boats could do in the ocean.... blew him away. I tried and tried to get him to join me for a Catalina trip but it's not for everyone, lol. That little boat sure was fun but my 29' Magic Wizard is so much beefier out on ocean... my spine is happier for sure.

Some great pics and a great thread. 👍 Similar to where we run mostly. The kind of boating we do more often these days... small group, 2-3 boats at the most. Been going to this river since I was a kid and that revolving train bridge still captures my attention even now. Been decades since it's moved.

Thanks man, it's been a lot of fun and part of a lot of good times and memories for sure. Not real common in my area, I think I have the only one around here, lol. Most people think it's a Taylor SS at first glance. Buddy of mine up in Houston had one for awhile. Sold it and decided he wanted it back but lost track of it.

I really like yours, damn good looking ride. Is it a Carrera?

Yea the Avengers are a blast for sure. One day last year or the year before we had 7 of them lined up on the beach we hang out at, it was pretty cool! My buddy has 3 of them and also an Avenger day cruiser.

Thanks! Yes Carrera 205 elite, carbed 496, Dominator pump.

Damn, that'd be something to see. Funny how certain boats are more prevalent in different parts of the country. That's one thing I can say about my old tub, more than likely there ain't gonna be another one around like it. Just gotta make sure I don't do something stupid because being the only one makes it easy to id, haha

Sweet, always liked the styling of the Carreras. Buddy of mine had a closed bow with a big Ford in it, damn thing would get after it.
