I have seen a couple of members here building broncos. I thought it woul dbe cool to get everyone in a single thread talking about their builds, upgrades, issues, rides, etc.

Post it all up:

I just bought a 1994 in July. Bought some 35's and a Heimed radius arm setup and just got it finished this week.Put some 35's on it and I can start enjoying it a little.

I think next up will be gears. Should I go 4:56 or 4:88 with 35's? Everyone keeps telling me 4:56so it's still enjoyable on the street, I really dont care about gas mileage. what does everyone think for gears?

Nice ride. My buddy has that exact same bronco in Washington. He bought a tan soft top for it this summer and the rig looks 1000% better without that red top on it. Cool ride, thanks for sharing!

10-4, the thing actually surprised me with how fast it was in stock form. The 35's took away some of that.... we will get back there again.

My mom is building this little grocery getter to cart the grand babies around in the dirt.

Hey all.

Heres my new-to-me '90. Was built about 20 or so years ago to chase dirt bike racing teams down in Baja. Was originally a 5.0/AOD 4speed truck but now has a 5.8/C6 3speed and 4.88's. Horribly slow on the highway and cannot wait to go down to at least 4:10's so I can keep up with the 18 wheelers lol. Full cage, Kings all around, 2-link in addition to Deaver J40's. First thing id like to change is swapping out the rubber pivots on beams and radius arms for uniballs. Great thread idea!

A friend of mine in Hood River has been dabbling in these for awhile. He has a 7.3 Conversion listed on EBay if anyone is interested.

Those are some badass rides, I hope everyone posts up their tricks and tips with these trucks. Looks like there is a lot of good experience here.

I have some Clunking noise going on when I go from a complete stop and when shifting from park/neutral to a forward or reverse gear.

I also noticed a whine from the rear end while underway.

Had it at a friends and took a look at trans/motor mounts. Didn’t find any play in any mounts. Also had him underneath to watch the power train and drive shaft while I shifted from neutral to forward and reverse. No visible driveline or driveline part play either.

Any chance the whine and clunk sound are related?

I don't know too much about these things yet, but it sounds like two separate issues to me. the rear end whining could be too much meshing on the gears and prob just needs a simple rebuild by someone who knows diffs real well.

The other one may be a separate transmission issue, especially if there are no visible movements in the driveline visually. Maybe even a u-joint? Not sure...

The red bronco is our current one. She is a sleeper. Minty was our first family bronco. Both were all built by me. Red bronco has all desolate suspension on it and minty has camburg suspension.

Wow that red bronco's interior is awesome. Did you do the door panels and console also?

Thanks! Yes I repainted all the interior plastic pieces including the dash with duplicolor interior paint. Then I went through and recovered the factory headliner and installed the new carpet.

I really dig that tire swing bumper. My plan is to fab up a twin swing one just like that for my Bronc. Very nice.

Wife doesn't know she wants one. Should arrive around her Birthday:

Lol. My wife said she wants one. I bought a spot just in case we can move forward. Really want to hold out for the svt raptor version as you know they are going to build one.

Most of the older Broncos, including the full sizes have been climbing in value in the last decade. I wonder if the advent of the new Bronco will send values of them into the stratosphere? 🤔

That turned out great.

Is that a custom console or did you pull it from a different car?

I’m 474,193 and was told there’s only 80k planned for the first year production. I’m not holding my breath for a 21!

I haven’t done much to this since last update except for enjoy it.

just did 400 miles in the dirt last weekend and not a single issue.

i am planning on selling my rzr here soon. I’d like to put about $5k into this in little improvements. Gears are first. Then there is some some front end body work I’d like to do. It looks like this was in a fender bender at some point. The driverssode Headlight and grill sags a little. With what ever is left over, I think a carpet kit, headliner, and new seats are in order.

Ford gave Nick Isenhouer one to build-up.
Not my cup of tea (perhaps the upcoming one will be), but pretty sweet [emoji106]

In related news, Ford wants to spin-off Bronco as a nameplate, just like Jeep.

They’re courting dealers to open stand-alone Bronco stores, so you can bet more models are coming.

I have done just about nothing to this but drive it in the past few years. Slab city to Blythe this weekend. We went through glamis and camped overnight at the swingset. This thing dunes so good. 30 years old and original power train and it just keeps ripping.

Finally gave this thing some attention.

4:56 gears
Full desolate motorsports front and rear suspension
All new steering with larger pump and box
All new ball joints
Installed my fridge slide
Wired up some lights.
New PRP seats

Off-road trip in a couple of weeks will be the first run on the new setup.

Does anyone know what size rear bench sheet I should order to fit in the stock location? I have PRP fronts so I would like to get a PRP for the back too.
