Erick Bryner took a trip up to Marty’s place (about a half hour from here) and it’s some of the best surfing in the world. It kind of near the ranch but Marty built his place in the middle Of nowhere!

I've been thinking for years to get in touch with an old friend I used to hang out with. in the 70's and 80's. He is an excellent piano player, used to play in all hotels around Vancouver, either playing piano, Hammond organ or Cordovox. There isn't a song he couldn't play. Long story, he fell in love with a pretty Mexican girl who was a waitress at the Four Seasons he played at the time . Her parents owned an antic store in Guadalajara. Steve divorced his wife and married the mexica chick and they moved to Mexico. Few years later, a mutual friend visited him there, telling me Steve did well and playing his music. around Guadalajara So, this friend went to see Steve who played at a hacienda with armed guards in the entrance, lol. Wondered who the guy owned that place? 🤔 :D
Anyway, lost contact with both friends now for a long time and have no idea what's with my friend Steve, Is he still plays or who knows. Not going to fly there to find out any time soon, lol.

Current situation. We drove 15 minutes north to Majahua and booked a Panga to take us to the island of ixtapa tomorrow where we will be fishing eating swimming etc..

For those curious about the crime rates down here. Several stores were closed today abd they left plenty of their goods outside (clothing hats etc).

We are down on a beach right now and they are having cocolocos!

Ya gotta love Mexico, its culture and especially its people..... I see these special spots as if we stepped back in time from SoCal.... like pre development and industrial age. I mean look at that, you're eating directly on the beach. Getting off the grid is good from time to time.

Looking forward to six days of Mexico!
We are heading down to take a look at a new development that some friends of ours are doing. Tom and Carter were going to come but had something come up so Bryner jumped on board and we are out!!

This is the house we are staying at. :)

3rd world with nice beaches is still 3rd world

you got the option of staying “baller out of control” status or loco locals.. I grew up Baja.. I like a little of each. Lol

I wish the video platform was better on rdp. If you could see where I’m at right now and the giant ass Argentinean steak I just ate you’d charge your tune on the quick. Lol

When I get home I’m gonna upload some YouTube videos, this place is incredible.

How do you get there? Fly to where? Then rent a car or taxi or? We have a place in Baja and been coming down to Mex last 35 years. No issues, heck I even leave my racecar down there. Never been south of Los Mochis in Mex though. This area looks like something we would love to see.

Areas of Mexico can still be great. But, when the asshole gangsters and cartels decide to move into an area it can and does quickly become ridiculously violent. There is no warning if and when that will happen. Often the first to suffer are the honest and very friendly locals. For whatever reason, the Official Mexico law enforcement is inferior to the real bad guys in most situations. For now, the area where Dave and Stacy are is safe. Who knows, it may always be that way. I hope so. But, when and if it changes, it happens fast, often with little or no warning. They are very fortunate to be experiencing what all of Mexico was once. And it is great.

Any activities available in the immediate or general area --- like sportsfishing, offroading, jungle exploration, rebel forces evasion, scuba --- recreational things ??
I can only sit, hang out, drink and eat for a few hours a day and a vast number of men, even with wife and kids, want to fish for a day. Most of the developments I'm familiar with in Costa Rica and Panama, were based around a marina.

actually pretty much everything you mentioned is available.

That’s where they let the turtles go from..

We didn’t get up in time for our panga so we drove down to zijuatenejo (spelling) it’s the main city we flew into. We are on our way to Playa Linda to take a boat or a panga across to ixtapa. The internet in this city is LIGHTNING FAST.. Faster than anything I have seen in the states. I’m gonna upload some more pics. :)

You fly into ixtapa direct 3 hr flight and Troncones is 20 minutes away either by car or taxi.

Once I got a better handle on where you are exactly, I realized it's not that far from the Marinas at Ixtapa / Z ( bunch of other letters follow that Z). In fact this time of year, Sail fishing, dorado, other game fish are in available, with plenty of sports fishing boats in operation. 👍

Eating at Orbes two nights ago. Great place and the owner is a ton of fun! We were betting drinks on the ring game (same as they have at fox’s)

The ribs he cooked were out of this world good..

The rolling banana cart with an actual steam whistle was a new one for me. Lol

We drove a few minutes north to the neighboring town where you can take pangas out for fishing. We ended up hanging out on the beach all day and going in the water with Coronas. Food was again amazing and extremely tranquil. The town itself is very small and not as nice as Troncones. The beach and hospitality was awesome though!

Robertos right after we released the turtles the band came on. They played classic rock and I gotta be honest they were AWESOME!!

They finished up and I ended up paying for them to play another hour. It was 65.00.. lol

The argentinean steak at Robertos was out of this world good. I don’t understand how we have eaten at all these places with dirt floors, Log fires and just grills above on cement supports and somehow it blows everything in LHC away.

Panga fishing in Mexico can be outstanding. If you do go, ask if you can target Dorado. They are beautiful and absolutely amazing to catch. Their colors in and out of the water are like non other, and they will sometimes even jump. You'd want the smaller "catching size" models. Cooked fresh on an open grill, they are outstanding. IMHO - one of the very best eating fish in the ocean. Also known as mahi-mahi and dolphin fish. They are all the same fish.

Looks amazing. I have been to some poorer parts of Mexico and seen how most of the country lives. It almost makes me feel guilty for being a gluten to their beautiful coastline and all of the amenities that our strong dollar buys. Then I realize that it is the tourists that keep those Mexican workers and families fed that live in those coastal towns.

Whenever I go, I bring about 3-400 in 2$ bills. Tip with that and you are an instant Hero! They consider it good luck. I have had Maseros come back to me a year later and show me they still have it in their wallet. I tip so heavy for those folks that create this amazing environment for us gringos to enjoy!

On the same token, remember they are not really your "friends" and would roll your ass in in instance if money was involved!

Mexico Title searches and title deeds were handled through Notary publics last I heard.
Extremely important.
Is it still that way?
